There's no time to lose, THERE ARE RPGS TO PLAY!!!

I honestly couldn't care less about graphics. I have a gaming PC that can do 4k resolution for all the 3rd party stuff. But if you want great GAMES, look no further than the big N. They're still kicking it old school where gameplay is king and single player and local multiplayer rule.

If you want online multiplayer, get a gaming PC. you'll never have to worry about your online service being hacked.

And Nintendo does have voice actors. Hell Xenobl...

I'm currently weathering the storm of broken games by living in Nintendo land.

Here, perfect polish and bug free gaming are the norm. Not to mention the best exclusives of 2014 were almost entirely on the big N. Check it:

Bravely Default
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth

I was sick of Ass Creed back in 2011. How people keep buying more of it (even when it is broken as hell) is beyond me.

I could say the same thing about Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. FF13 was the worst FF game I've ever played but they keep making more sequels to them. Why do people keep buying them?

I'm sure the other consoles will do fine next year but Wii U is looking to be almost unbeatable with Star Fox, Zelda and Xenoblade not to mention Splatoon, Kirby, Yoshi and many others.

Sure, graphically, the Wii U is inferior to it's rivals and it's online play isn't the best. But in terms of awesome (and complete on day one) games, Wii U is a shining beacon of gaming.

This is why used Wii U games are still selling for $40-50 while there'...

I think its epically hilarious that even though several Assassin's Creed games were released this year, the best AC game of them all was Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

When another company (WB) walks into your yard and does better, it's time to take a long hard look at yourself. Personally, I can't wait for the next Shadow of Mordor game and I couldn't care less about Assassin's Creed: Victory.

I believe us gamers have a term for this: ...

Interesting fact:

I originally put commas between the game titles but N4G would not accept the blog for some reason. Perhaps I went over the text limit? It just gave me a random error code. Whatever the reason, I took the commas out and it was accepted.

Here in the USA we had this thing called Funcoland. Used games were like $2 and you could put any cartridge in the kiosk and play the game at the store before you bought it.

It's not like Gamestop is nowadays where you trade in 4 games and get like $10 off one game. I remember hauling an armload of games into a funcoland to trade in and hauling a different armload out.

Used consoles were like $70 and you would get like $50 of store credit for trading in ...

I loved both consoles but I think it's very strange that the Sega Saturn is so forgotten. I'm a huge RPG fan and for my money, the Saturn had much better RPGs than the N64 did. Games like:

Dragon Force
Panzer Dragoon Saga
The Legend of Oasis
Shining Force III (even though we only got part 1)
Shining the Holy Ark
Dark Savior
Albert Odyssey
Magic Knight Rayearth
Blazing Heroes (AKA Mystaria)
Virtual...

My favorite RPGs this year:

Dark Souls II
Bravely Default
Tears to Tiara 2
Divinity: Original Sin
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Legend of Grimrock II
The Banner Saga
Wasteland 2

and newly released PC versions of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and Valkyria Chronicles. And I'm sure Dragon Age: Inquisition will soon be on that list.

Not a bad year considering all the stinkers ...

LOL! Did you just copy my blog entitled "2014 is the year of disappointment"? It's okay. I don't mind. Maybe we just had the same idea. I agree completely: this year has been a huge let down.

I have spent the year mostly playing retro and handheld games from my back catalog due to the flood of failure this year. I am excited for Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 4 but mostly... I'm looking forward to next year.

As soon as I played this game at my friend's house I immediately went and sold my Xbox 360 just so I could buy a PS3 and this game. Never once regretted it.

We NEED a sequel on PS4 ASAP!!!

Why would we care? All three consoles look great. They always do. They go for about 5-7 years and then new consoles come out. The cycle continues.

But PC lasts forever. We have so many PC exclusives to play right now... it's overwhelming. I'm currently playing:

Divinity Original Sin
Wasteland 2
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

PS2 forever!

With 155 million sold and counting, the PS2 is easily the best console ever made!

It had the best action games like God of War and Devil May Cry. It had the best racing games like Gran Turismo 3 and 4. It had the best platformers like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper. And it had the best RPGs like Dragon Quest VIII, FFX and Persona 3 & 4.

I'm still discovering awesome PS2 games that I missed and I'm su...

Oh I'm with you there. JA2 is a masterpiece and that's what makes the new JA games so hard to stomach. If XCOM can get an awesome remake, why can't Jagged Alliance?

It's just not fair.

I have yet to try Alien Isolation but judging by what others are saying, you're probably right. And it also fits with that theme of having something to prove a year after the Aliens: Colonial Marines debacle.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I loved playing MGSV: Ground Zeroes...

...for about an hour. And then buyer's remorse kicked in. Paying $30 for about as much content as MGS2's Tanker demo (which I got for free) left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

Not saying that hour of gaming sucked. It was AMAZING! Just thinking about how awesome MGSV: The Phantom Pain is going to be is making my blood pressure go up.

But that feeling of being abused by Konami isn't going awa...

Lol! Turned based Tactical RPGs were BORN on the PC. Haven't you ever heard of:

Laser Squad
Wasteland
XCOM: UFO Defense
Jagged Alliance
Fallout
Civilization
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
and a whole host of other titles?

The first SRPG to arrive in America on home consoles was Shining Force in 1993. And it didn't even make a big splash till the 2nd game came out a year later. By that point, PC gamers had b...

Final Fantasy VI

October 11, 1994

That was the day when everything changed. Up until that moment I thought gaming didn't get any better than Mario, Zelda, Streets of Rage and Sonic: Simple games with little story and great, satisfying gameplay.

Then 3 Magitek suits walked in the snow and Kefka gave his maniacal laugh and my definition of gaming was changed FOREVER. And just when I was catching my breath, Chrono Trigger landed like a nucle...
