Titles and descriptions involving sales figures should really start to specify regions. This being NPD numbers only, although I'm curious to see how it's doing comparatively WW. It'd be nice to see the WiiU doing well the world over.

What a fantastic time to own a Playstation; loads of great exclusives, all the best multi-plats, a Naughty Dogs release, Studio Ghibli (Ni No Kuni) and possible next-gen announcements. Exciting stuff.

There's this weird assumtion that MS will definitely have a new console announced and released before christmas this year but for some reason Sony may not. I believe it's probably to do with the delays in getting the PS3 out the door but can you really see the same issues happening again by chance to Sony? Why can't they release close to the nextbox? From what I gather Sony looks after indie developers and offers them a plaform that they can use to not only make a profitable game but also one with total creative freedom.
With all the android and linux console/devices hitting next gen it's going to be a very different ball game. Anything could happen but one things for sure, MS can't afford another RROD debacle with all these new competitors around to sap up their disgruntled fanbase. Also charging for online is going to become more and more of a challenge.

You can't fault MS here, right from the off they targeted core gamers with an onslaught of marketing. They even crashed the PS3 launch party with a barge, remember that?
