Fascinating, a real power play between two of the worlds biggest tech titans.
Be interesting to see who backs down in the end, but I have a feeling that the hubris of both will keep this battle royale going for a bit longer.
Don't forget Epic also has Google in their sights too, a war waged on two fronts is a hard war to win.
Hmmm...a very tall public ashtray?
Once again....

Certainly not now it isn't.

I understand Remedy are not the wealthiest team in the world and so probably want to (maybe need to) maximize their assets to get as much revenue as possible from the next gen, but I seriously think they are doing this the wrong way.
I expect a only a small percentage of current gen control owners will shell out again for the Ultimate edition just to have it on their PS5/XSX, especially when they can still play it on those systems using BC (albeit not as pretty or smooth).
...
1. Get gamepass for 1$.
2. Sideload Xcloud to Android TV
3. Stream Halo Infinite at max Rez (4K if to beat Stadia specs) on my superfast broadband.
4. Use old Dualshock 4 to dabble in Halo Infinite for a bit.
5. No need to buy Xbox Series X, thanks for the options MS, here's that 1 dollar I promised you!
Now MS are putting Xcloud and gamepass on Android, there really is zero point buying a series X.
I can sideload that app onto my TV, and then stream Halo Infinite in 4K with my fast broadband, paying $1 for the privilege.
PS5 on the other hand is trying to innovate and push new experiences, exactly what I want and expect from a new generation, not be told I should expect the same old stuff over again.
Cor, a right stinger in the balls of MS' plans.
That's a huge market stream gone, boff!!!
No reason to buy a Series X now at all.
If I desire first party games from MS, I'll get a cheapo gamepass, stick it on Android phone and cast to TV, or even sideload app to TV.
Stream in 4K using my fortunately very fast broadband and Halo Infinite can be dabbled in for 5 mins.
MS even proudly tell me I CAN use my Dualshock 4 too, thanks for the options MS! Might give you $1 next year.
PS5 however already has a list as long as my arm...
Proprietary memory cards and very low first party support.
Surely no one would make those same mistakes with the release of a new console... Would they MS?
Looks like it might be from a dev kit or a prototype, unless it's a proper fake up.
But you can roll it in glitter!
Darn, was hoping to add it to my PS4 remaster collection.
Shadows of the Damned please!
This is it, MS going for all the Iphone & Android smartphone owners who play mainly on PS4 and don't have a PC, as seen by the noted "You can use your DS4 controller!"
They really want these numbers up as I expect Xbox & PC numbers are flattening out, so need a new source of subscriptions, and smartphone users are it!
Perhaps trying to drum up subs from the old 360 brigade who jumped to PS4 and have lapsed accounts.
I expect...
Gamepass probably reaching saturation numbers by now, the only stragglers being those who get the $1 deal for 1 month to play the exclusives when they are released.
With Halo Infinite, MS will surely be tying that loophole to keep people subbed, some sort of rebranded Gold / gamepass ultimate where it's a year minimum.
I speculate, but MS surely didn't remove 1 year gold subs from their website for the benefit of the customer, they are a business first not a gaming c...
A real missed opportunity to show all the bells, whistles and effects that the Series X can do.
Instead we got a mediocre visualisation from a PC build that has created a new series of memes and is now the laughing stock of the internet.
Could have made a huge impression and really showed people what was coming, but instead it just looks like more average Gamepass fodder with an apparent GaaS plan on the top to keep people buying. Shame.
They pulled the Gold sub to get everyone onto Gamepass ultimate.
Once the gold subbers numbers have dried up, hike up Gamepass Ultimate and close the $1 loophole.
MS playing the long game, wait until enough fish are in the net before pulling it up.
It'll be on Gamepass, but the 'seasons' will have to be paid for, same as they said for Destiny 2 on Gamepass.
Keeping a games that relies on 'Seasons' requires an immense amount of work, I'm pretty sure the PC side of players will jump ship quickly to something else if 343 don't keep it interesting.
Killer app!
