If your a serious car fan and you havent played either, start with Forza 4. Forza Horizon is a fantastic game, but Forza 4 is the gearthead's racer. Full on sim.
For me its a tie between:
1. Far Cry 3
2. Dishonored
3. Borderlands 2
4. Max Payne 3
5. Assassins Creed 3
Honorable mention goes to Sleeping Dogs and Forza Horizon.

To each their own. Spec Ops: The Line was actually one of my bigger gaming letdowns of 2012. I found the action terribly repetitive (And I'm a shooter fan). To me, The whole game felt like it was just a giant "horde mode" style mini-game, narrated by Nolan North. I feel like all I ever did was cut down wave after wave of enemy AI. Occasionally shooting out windows and throwing grenades to drop sand on people

One of my biggest dissapointments this year was Spec Ops:The Line. It was supposed to be this ground breaking 3rd person shooter, but to me it was one of the biggest glorified shooting galleries I've played. It was like Gears of War in a modern-warfare desert setting.

I totally agree. They did say the same thing about Crysis 2. Crysis 2 looked great, but nowhere near as good as some other games that released around the same time (or even before) Crsis 2.. For what it'sworth, I think both Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 look better graphically than Crysis 2.. The downloadable console port of the original Crysis looked better than Crysis 2 imo!

All due respect PirateThom, but couldn't you have just played multiplats on your ps3 when there was a lack of exclusives (which sounds like you had a ps3 in '06/07)? Because Then the back end of '08 into '09 happened and it seemed all there was were amazing Sony exclusives... Its true that there wasnt much competition as far as racers go this year. Even still, Forza Horizon would be a strong contender against a number of games in the racing genre. Its a great game, and the car handling and track/course designs are awesome.
