I lose interest in "big name" FPS campaigns after about an hour. They are so linear and have no character customization. Throw a hint of fallout3 in these games, because right now i think the campaigns are a joke and I go straight to multiplayer.
RPG single player games - keep up the good work
BF3 fans sure love to post comments about CoD articles =)
Although I've asked many times and still have no answer as to what huge innovations the battlefield series has made? Just as guilty of rinse and repeat as CoD is. I don't know why you want MORE tweaks than what CoD has done in the past 4 iterations (perks, killstreaks, wager matchs, theatre mode, etc, etc). And they should both be awesome fun again, so i don't see where the hate comes from.

@Trebius
Battlefield is not all that different from it's PC debut a decade ago. And people aren't sick of it. And people aren't sick of CoD. I really don't understand this whole argument that Battlefield is hugely innovative and CoD puts out the same thing every year. Where's the facts to back this up?? Since BF revamps all the time and CoD sits stagnant, i'm expecting 10 innovations in the past 5 years that are as way bigger than CoD Perks system, killstrea...
Please do NOT bring this to consoles!!! I will use my console for 99% of my gaming, and I will get a slight PC upgrade just for this game.
Yes, he clearly missed the map packs for CoD. He makes a good point though.
JeffGUNZ, please enlighten me on what BF3 multiplayer will have that is innovative compare to BFBC2 multiplayer? And I'm a console gamer, so the high-end graphics isn't a major improvement for me, probably why EA/DICE are sticking with the PC footage.
NICE
Hope they make it more like MW1/MW2 and less like Black Ops. The black ops in-game lag is inexcusable, the game was little bit too balanced and not interesting enough. Keep the non-stackable kill streaks and wager matches from black ops and grab everything else from the modern warfare games please.
As for the rinse-and-repeat argument, it would appear that most other games fall into the same trend. Maybe some BF fans can tell me what will be so innovative ab...
Good article. Yes, it could be great on both platforms, but has a way better chance if it has a clear identity on ONE platform. There's no way a game with PC lead platform is going to get any of the console CoD market. Even Battlefield console fans should feel ripped off that EA/Dice STILL will not release console footage. Great, this game looks amazing on high end PC, thanks for rubbing my face in something that i'll never be able to play! Talk about alienating 50% of your core ma...
@Kahvi
It is not a bad thing to use the power of the PC, but it IS a bad thing to spotlight it as much as they have, and make it their flagship version. This is amazing for PC gamers, i play the odd PC game myself, but DICE is alienating some of the console market. They are never going to dethrone the other guys based on PC sales.
Yes, CoD is not what is used to be. Agreed. But please give me examples of how BF3 is innovating compared to BFBC2?
They think they are pretty hot stuff hiding behing their PC gameplay trailers. Time to man up and release some console footage.
Looking forward to more high end PC footage. For 12 minutes I will forget that i'm a console gamer and enjoy it.
If it's your first time entering a multiplayer game, and you don't know the maps or guns, etc, you SHOULD get annihilated. Figuring things out for yourself is part of the fun.
YES! Original Battletoads anyone?
This is the 10th article on the same subject. N4G needs to get a search filter: "Non-Redundant Articles"
I am a few hours into the single player and really enjoying it. I would respectfully disagree with the AI comments above. If you compare this AI to some other big name single player campaigns (CoD for example), this AI blows it out of the water. The enemies are smart, work as a team, some rush you, some hold back. As opposed to other big name AI's where all enemies stand around like dopes and they take 1 bullet to drop. Combine this with the nanosuit minigame of 'how far can you ...
I think FPS is alive and well. Core military shooters like BF and CoD, we are now getting some decent hybrid/RPG'ish games Borderlands, Fallout, and devs trying some new things like Crysis. Good stuff.
Could not agree more on the "crappy 5hr long ones". It will be nice to play against AI that does not run in a straight line at you and get dropped with one bullet to the ankle.
Great article. I rented the game, it got repetitive, and i have no desire to go back to Kirkwall.
It's crazy how many console gamers are going nuts over a high-end PC trailer. Graphics they will never experience. I am waiting patiently for DICE to release some console gameplay footage...
Single player games are too easy to finish these days. 100% of gamers can finish most games. Back in the day it was a challenge to get through a game and it felt like a real penalty when you messed up and died. That was great!
Wait, this doesn't really have much to do with ME3, ha ha
