Most games won't use those 2 extra cores, so you will see little to no difference in games. If you want to see a noticeable difference in performance, then I recommend investing that money on a second HD6870 and a better PSU.

I'm hoping Microsoft decides to have duel GPUs for their next console if Sony decides to stick with the Cell. It would make the next console war a hell alot more interesting.
Man, Sony is making the same huge mistake again. If I were Sony and I'm making my next gaming console, I would go with a duel GPU solution rather than investing in a better CPU. The main gripe with the PS3 was its difficulty to develop games which was contributed by the complex architecture of the CELL.
Anyways, I would defiantly have at least 512mb of ram for the NPG. My Mytouch 4g has 700mb of ram and it's not even the top tier on the current cell phone lineup.
The main problem that is bottlenecking all consoles is the limited ram, so I think Sony look at these signs and think about what components they should remove or upgrade.
The amount of RAM is never conformed by Sony, so they could basically slap 256mb of ram in the E3 launch and it would okay on their part because any info on the specs are just rumors at this point.
I'd expect some kind of infamous-related design print on the controller for the the premium 70 euro price tag. Maybe some thunderbolts engraved on the handles but instead you get a plain jane red and blue.
