A better question would be "60 frames at 720p or 30 frames at 1080p?".

My personal would be 60 frames for competitive mutiplayer games. Those extra frames counts so much in reaction times that I actually lower my settings to achieve the 60 frames mark.

In single player or casual games on the other hand, 30 frames is more than acceptable.

I think what most people are forgetting here is that games uses the GDDR5 RAM from the video card and not the system memory, so the amount of memory the OS takes up wouldn't be much of an issue. So if you were running a 32-bit OS with 4gb of system RAM and video card with 2gb of GRRD5 RAM, then memory limitation wouldn't be an issue because OS will only use the system memory while the game will only take up the 2gb of GDDR5

The same old song and dance with PC vs console comparison. Honestly, all this video serves as is to challenge the insecurities of consoles fanboys and give PC elitists a reason to show off.

In my many years of gaming, I've the same thing happen with every console cycle and goes something like this:

1. New console is announced and console fanboys hype about how "revolutionary" and "powerful" it will be and how PC gaming will left in the dust.

2. New console comes out and it within a years time, and newer hardware is comes out and current hardware becomes cheaper.

3. Newer technology will outperform the con...

With a x86-64 processor, it might as well be a PC. I wouldn't be surprise if somebody finds a way to boot Windows or Linux and run exe files on the PS4. What with all the insecurity in the comments section? The PS4 being a PC isn't a bad thing at all and it would probably be the console that developers will flock to since it will easiest out of three.

@HammadTheOne
Most PC gamers do have GDDR5 RAM. In fact GDDR5 has been the standard RAM for video cards for a long time. My HD 5850 from 2009 had GDDR5.

RAM is a less important component when it comes to the GPU and I'm really more interested in what GPU will the next Xbox have. If Microsoft opted for 16gb of DDR3 but decided to pair it with a really high-end GPU like the HD7950, then it would defiantly outweigh the 70 mb/s difference in memory speed.

To be more clear, an APU is the CPU and GPU integrated into one chip which rids of any latency between the CPU and GPU and also reduces power consumption.

@bishop-br
The video card's GGDR5 memory is used when a PC is rendering the video game while the system memory is resevered for background applications and OS.

Say for example you are playing a game that uses about 1.5gb of ram and you have a video card that has 2gb of GDDR5 RAM. Any game-related data transfered between the video card, CPU, and Hard Drive will be handled by the much high-bandwidth GDDR5 RAM while the system memory still retains the background pro...

Playing games at that resolution will too taxing on the hardware. The most expensive video card in a muti-card configuration can barely at 30 frames at that resolution.

As a person who primarily game on PC, I am actually excited for the PS4 because of its specifications and its upcoming exclusives. I can tell based on the specs and games, Sony are listening to both the developers and their customers, and learning from their mistakes.

What I don't like is their ignorant fanbase who have no clue what comes out their mouths and racking the PC platform. I hear them say things like "Killzone 4 leagues ahead of Crysis 3 for the PC" ...

I'm speculating on the 8 core Jaguar CPU and it's "enhanced PC architecture". The FX processors are AMD's latest and greatest lineup and it might be based off this platform which would be disappointing.

AMD's Bulldozer architecture has been receiving negative press for its underwhelming benchmark performance compared to the competition. The FX processors have also been getting alot of flak for not being a true 8 core CPU, instead having 4 modules wi...

Because PS1 games are not hard to emulate because the hardware is very old and the PS2 games are ported to the PS3.

Anyone who has remotely touched PC gaming knows that having more video ram is more important for gaming than system ram because its much more faster and has higher bandwidth. Why do you think frames severely tanks on a 2GB video card when setting the resolution on ultra resolutions like 2560x1600?

This bad because Epic Games owns the rights to Unreal Engine 3. If Microsoft owns Epic Games then they are also entitled to the engine which is the most versatile and widely used engine used by developers. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft will try to capitalize off this engine and make it less inaccessible.

PC is my personal platform of choice for gaming for its variety of options and cheap games.

When something malfunctions in my PC like a wifi adapter, I simply take it out and replace it with ease without having to call the company and sending out the entire unit. There are many companies like Asus that have outstanding warranties, so most of them will replace the part for free with no hassle. I had to pull some teeth with Sony just to get my PS Vita with my a dead pixel repla...

I think why the main reason why Halo was such a hit on console is because Bungie was the first to migrate standard features on the PC over to consoles with Halo. Things like online matchmaking, Lan Play, weapon limitations became standard in consoles.

The author mentions about leaving his PS3 on for twelve hours only to discover a dead PS3. The problem is obviously an overheating issue. Leaving any electronic device running for extended periods will build up heat, causing permanent damage.

The PS vita is essentially a high-powered smartphone. Seeing as the Vita does have a ARM CPU just like every other smartphone.
