I think I'm going to have to preorder this on principle just to support the devs' right to make whatever kinf od game they want and let the market decide whether it's desirable/appropriate or not.

@paradise:
Total Agreement KZ2 is probably my favorite single player FPS of all-time (#2 == COD4). People whine about the guns because they are morons and can't shoot. The main p"problem" with the KZ2 guns is that they feel way more realistic to me than the laser guns in COD/BFBC2 or anything else and most lazyboy FPS Rambos can't handle it.

On top of that the multi-player is WAY underrated. I have about forty games for my PS3 and I'd say KZ2 is ...

MAG sucks dog balls. They're basically rewriting it because it's failing so hard. The player base fell apart at an astonishing rate and as a "massive" multiuplayer only game with not enough players to sustain the ginormous modes (256 player), it has become a total trainwreck.

Zipper is doing a "beta" of the new version of it next week (beta free with retail game purchase LOL) to try to reboot the thing.

As someone who got it day ...

""now try to launch a high profile game like halo reach on DD, and see how your servers perform when you have a million preorder customers trying to DL the game at the exact same time. i can imagine reach will be 5-8gigs, mebe more. i would estimate it would take at least 24 hours to dl that on launch day. thats a very optimistic estimate too. As an American, I find these numbers disturbingly low. Is media access limited somehow over there or something?

Agreed, the PC will be the cutting edge (as usual). But make no mistake, consoles will follow suit and I think it'll be surprisingly fast.

Not only do we have the PC trailblazing at the high end but also, we have handhelds: iPhone, iPad, Android phones/tablets, Windows Phone 7 devices, at the low end. These will all offer games/software with no physical media.

iPhone has already taken over adult portable gaming. Most adults were not willing to carry aroun...

Uhh or maybe you're incapable of setting up a decent internet connection? I've been a BFBC2 addict since the day it was released, played it online exclusively... I've logged hundreds of hours on that game and have been disconnected maybe, five times at most.

I've always considered the dudes who dug Lara just for the digiboobies to be kind of pathetic examples of the desperate lonely video game nerd archetype, TBH. Something about pixel-lust is kind of creepy to me almost like dudes who drool over anime characters that don't actually exist as humans.

Since the Lara character has been portrayed so many different ways (i.e. her looks are not set in stone, a zillion models, actresses, games, comics, drawings, etc, have been m...

The Warriors, is EXCELLENT, IMHO. It's easy to overlook because the IP is so old (the movie is from what the 70s?), but Rockstar did a great job with IP and the PSP version is really well done.

You know I kind of get tired of everyone pushing crap back on the parents as if they're supposed to know every last foreseeable possibility in any given situation. That's a slippery slope, especially where technology is concerned.

Really, a lot of modern parents are MUCH less tech savvy than their kids, it probably never crossed her mind that it was even possible to do this, so she never would have even though "I need parental controls". To her it's like...

@koehler: all your hardware spec talk is Apples vs Oranges except for memory. The OSs aren't equal, the GPUs aren't equal, and the CPUs aren't the same, so simple clock speed comparisons and the like are retarded. Just give it up.

Fact is, this IP is probably realizable in some form on the PSP (and DS). F*ck, the PSP has tons of games that are already more impressive/complex than a semi-3d fighter. But the ugly truth is that the cost and effort to downscale and po...

Absolutely! A half baked cash in on a tired traditional media IP is just the thing the video game industry needs right now to really shake things up! Let's do some movie games, while we're at it, too. That would be so AWESOME.

With MILLIONS of players still playing it, I'd say the obvious answer here is NO. :)

Who'd have thought it: an early beta is buggy! It's not a free game for knobs like you to play on, it's a beta to test stuff and aid development so there are fewer bugs in the final product.

Devs are damned if they do (MOH) and damned if they don't (MW2) around here apparently. <rolleyes>

You're saying that almost as if you believe an irrelevant feature like cross game chat (which is a software/network feature that can be modified/added and is not an inherent limitation of the system) or some specific game features (which are again, modifiable and present at developer discretion not a SYSTEM level thing (and are also already on BOTH systems)) is as important as a fundamental hardware limitation like CPU power (cell) or storage capacity (Blu-ray, upgradeable hdd, etc).

I own both boxes (and a Wii and a DS and PSP, etc). I'm not really a fanboy, but to be honest, I got the 360 first when I jumped into this gen and later felt a need/desire to get a PS3 after the price came down. I now have a second PS3 in a different room and to be honest, if I had bought the PS3 first, I'd probably still have two PS3s but NO 360. The 360 just feels like a subset of the PS3.

It's not that I hate it, it became irrelevant the day I got the PS3. Sort...

If you don't like FPSs don't play them or lobby designers to use first person perspective in other game types. FWIW, the original article is the exact opposite of me... I think generally first person perspective is great for adrenaline rush type of games and highly immersive games, so I find long breaks and cinematics in the action tedious.

If the breaks propel and tell a good story that is AWESOME (see COD4:MW single player) but, I don't want long unskippable CG...

Actually, the entire Twisted Metal series is one of the most overrated in all of gamedom right now, IMHO. That said, I think his response was awesome. That guy was trolling him and he pwned him. Good for Jaffe, it's got to be a PITA to have people constantly telling you how to do your job.

Of course, I still won't touch a Twisted Metal game and Jaffe acts like an ass a lot times, but that's cool, lot's of people love it (both him acting like an ass and Twisted...
