Problem is, Konamis just out of touch enough to not internalize the games lack of sales as any fault of their own--they'll simply view it as a brand that is no longer relevant. I was struggling with this question recently because of the games microtransactions, but deep down I don't believe that konami losing sales is going to teach them not to put microtransactions in the game--if anything they'll read it as their audience reducing so they have to put in more. Honestly, I don'...
Lot's of compression and space optimization. Since pretty much every game is released digitally or on a dual layer BD these days, devs have really loosened their belts on optimizing space usage, which is understandable—it takes a lot of time. Hopefully they didn't sacrifice audio quality to optimize space. Knowing KJP, I'd doubt it. So damn excited.
@GNF relax, no one is contesting that the ps4 has a significant advantage in the gpu arena, which is why it's had way less trouble running things in 1080p, but 40% is a very arbitrary numeric selection. The Ps4 is a technically superior machine when it comes to running actual games, but I haven't seen anything that convinces me that it's far superior in terms of its core design capabilities. It could be argued that in terms of memory and what the machines can handle in off-screen ...
I don't know about that for sure, but I imagine it will be a pretty cutting edge port. I don't have a powerhouse PC, but when I saw the difference between Ground Zeroes PS4 and PC Ultra (just in 1080p, not 4k as I do not have a 4k television) I got seriously jealous. It looks WAY better. Since then, The Phantom Pain has grown to look much, much better on the consoles, so I imagine that folks with kickass PC rigs are in for quite a treat with the Phantom Pain.
Just when I was about to say why I hated the 'Hardcore' classification, the article did it for me. Anyone particularly interested in a form of media shouldn't bare an adjective-classification in common with intense pornography. That's weird. Moreover, it just sounds way too intense and almost degrading to the medium in my eyes. Maybe even 'Core' by itself is ok, but don't put 'hard' in there. It makes me uncomfortable.
Call me pretent...
Lol, I guess I don't have a horse in the race. The delusions and obsessions of anyone as it relates to console-obsession are peculiar to me. For the record, I ONLY have a PS4; I think the conversation could be interesting if people were willing to be a little less sure of there opinions. So, to be fair, my comment is unnecessary. I just find it shocking that anyone who has a simple observation that isn't fueled by some off-putting allegiance to a device is met with abject vitriol. ...
Am I the only one who's amazed that it's running at 1080p and 60fps on either system? Sure, it's cross-gen, but not even GTA5 pulled that off on the new systems. I find it a little audacious for anyone to claim "No way they'll get it to 1080p 60fps on Xbox" when I kind of can't believe they're doing that on the PS4. There is not that much of a power difference and the PS4 usually struggles to run games at 1080p 60fps. Hopefully they get it there on the One ...
Damn, I'm never coming to a console conversation again, how is everyone this polarized? Sony fans seem obsessively motivated with no one questioning that the Ps4 stay on top.
@heavy that's precisely my point, the Ps3 had the odds even further stacked against it (cost, pricing, foolish marketing decisions) and it eventually caught up. People liked to spell doom and gloom for Sony back then too, at least I remember it. I don't think Microsoft can do that, they aren't nearly as established worldwide, but I think they can catch up in NA. Also, the Ps3 never caught up in North America. It only surpassed worldwide.
...I don't know if I agree with that. I guess if you really love racing games, the Xbox is better in that category, but apart from that I think they're on equal footing. I'm more excited for tearaway than I am for Halo and Bloodborne is my favorite game on either system so far. Quantum Break does look pretty Damn fun though.
Don't be so sure. It looked like the PS3 would be behind the 360 forever, and it eventually overtook the 360 in worldwide sales. I doubt Microsoft will pull that off (they aren't nearly as established in Europe or the far east), but I think they could definitely catch up in North America. Don't underestimate the power of a New Halo, it would surprise you how many people there still are that are obsessed with that series.
This is kind of a chicken and egg situation. Is this an Easter egg foreshadowing the future, or was this sort of self-egrandification the sort of thing that made Konami feel the need to Mark their territory? Either way, it was stupid for them to try and dissociate MGS and Kojima. No ones going to forget he's been the creator since the beginning, and it only serves to make a lot of Kojima fans have negative feelings toward their corporation. Dummies.
To me, IX and XI are the ones that are on a whole other level. Then I'd probably tie VII and the original. The original was the first RPG I played, so it has a special place in my heart.
Honestly I don't really care about the remake. No matter how they approach it, they're going to piss somebody off. If they literally just remake it with voice acting and New character models, a lot of fans will be very happy, but a lot would he upset that they didn't do a bigger overhaul. If they do a big overhaul and genuinely remake the game, they're going to piss off diehard fans of the original. Its going to be divisive no matter what.
I love the original...
Where are all these articles coming from? They removed him from the box almost 4 months ago. I agree, its petty, but why are all these articles pretending it just happened? Maybe because the retailers hadn't changed their images until now?
I think we're overcomplicating it. In all likelihood, Kojimas been beefing with Konami brass on account of the five year development cycle and likely monolithic development cost for MGSV. I think he saw putting all that time and money in to projects as a worthwhile investment, and the higher ups did not. They probably have fundamentally different ideas about where it's sensible to spend tons of resources.
I'm not sure that I get this guy's point... He's afraid of 'blatant fan service', which I understand, but forgets that Peace Walker was comprised of almost ENTIRELY New characters. Sure, technically Miller is a returning character, and the Boss' AI is in there, but that's about it. My main complaint with Peace Walker is that it felt like it fucked up the chronology of the series technology, and honestly, I think that trend with continue in TPP. I don't think th...
*sigh* I see all your points, and I don't event think you're wrong per se, but I still absolutely love that game. I would agree that the core storyline was the least engrossing of the numbered entries, but there's something about the resignation with which that game was written that I find fascinating. It's almost as if, after being berated for years about answering all the questions of the saga, Kojima aggressively removed all the mystery from his series in a Damn-near self-a...
Dude... watch the gameplay from 2014 and the gameplay from 2015. The new footage just IS better. It's really not a matter of opinion. The draw distance is vastly improved, anti-aliasing is vastly improved, and the real-time weather and lighting effects are more consistent. Maybe you just liked the trailer more, but the gameplay is definitely better looking now.
Ah, that kind of makes sense I guess.I was joking in the first place, but for some reason I don't like the term, but the article did actually reference porn.
