Doom's multi-player never took off though but I blame that on trying to modernize it to be more like Cod or Battlefield, should have kept it more like Unreal or Golden Eye than anything. I only ever got to play multi-player two or three times and then matchups became almost impossible.
I can see it working best as a co-op like Monster Hunter, not sure how PvP would work without frustrating players though.
But how many of these games are competitive enough to be eSports? If I remember right, Dissidia NT wanted a piece of that pie and it kinda flopped. Even newer games like Street Fighter aren't as balanced as they should be for competitive play. People can stream for the sheer spectacle which I'm fine with (especially single-player games), but it's hard work and alot of time to get a game down pat for the purpose of making it an esport.
I don't mind sex in games, to me it's similar to watching a movie, you can go see strippers in some games (GTA).
@nowitzki2004,
Not always, but in this case, I do think of Fortnite being the better game of the two despite the fact I've barely played either. If PUBG tightened their optimization, then they may have been able to put up a better fight despite the price difference.
If you've ever working in a reasonable competive job, than that alone should make it pretty damn clear how competitive businesses can get with each other, I've seen some dick-ish things during my work life.
I guess it's good because I don't have to spend the money buying another console when I already have it's offerings on something I own now.
I'm thankful for console demos when they drop, there's alot of games I did and didn't buy for that reason alone. Otherwise I have to look at youtube and reviews to figure out if I'd like the game.
Yes, it does poke holes in the 3rd party/multi-plat is all that matters argument, otherwise how can you explain the Switch's success this gen?
Sony did try a brawler in the form of Playstation all stars battle, it just wasn't very good. Smash manages a more appealing roster of characters and better game play. Maybe Nintendo franchises mesh together better? Nintendo has some seriously strong first party games, it looks like they're starting to build on those 3rd party relationships too.
Sites are lucky if I click once or twice, half a dozen or more clicks is more effort than I'm willing for a list that may or may not suck.
I'm guessing this isn't worth a click.
I agree fully, people are just wishing for shiny new things, Sony said no focus on major hardware for the next three years.
We know there's no hardware announcements for E3 this year, that's for sure. I'm happy with the vanilla ps4 till then.
I have a vanilla ps4, don't want a ps5 till 2020 and Sony's lastest report paints a 2020/2021 release, any earlier is just people dreaming.
I'm confident about 1440p,not so much 4k.
@gangsta_red,
You do realise ps3 BC on ps4 is almost impossible without great costs involved right? Blame the Cell processor.
Especially when they already made announcements about E3 and the outlook for the next few years of the company. Only briefly, but enough to make reasonable predictions, most people here are not making reasonable predictions.
People keep touting 7nm cpu mass production, but those Ryzen cpus aren't coming out till next year and probably the same for the new AMD GPUs. Nvidia's GPUs will probably come this year, plus ram is still way over priced. I really can't see a ps5 before 2020 without it being too weak or expensive.
It's a bit too early to call this, I'm expecting great things from both Sony and Nintendo, we know what Sony will most likely show, not so much Nintendo. Personally I hope they both have a killer E3 this year.
