give up!

if it wasn't for me needing to hold on to every penny i have for rent at the end of this month, i'd have snagged them.

that, and i wanted to do something for my wife this month, since out anniversary was on May 1st, and i'm always getting stuff for me (ie, games).

i can wait a few more weeks to get 3D Dot Game Heroes and RDR though. i really do have a bunch of games to play right now (FFXIII, Way of the Samurai 3, i got m...

get 3D Dot Game Heroes, Red Dead Redemption, and Alan Wake until next month.

i really wanted to support 3DDGH on launch day, but alas, the responsibilities of being an adult are more important. well, the game isn't going anywhere, and i have plenty on my plate already. i can wait.

by practically EVERY trailer on that list?

the Deus Ex trailer was probably the best.

i found it kind of funny that all the games are shooters too.

the problem with the modern video game trailer is that it follows the same templates and beats of movie trailers.

the thing that, to me, makes trailers like the LBP2 debut trailer, and the God of War 3 trailer so great is that they are kind of marching to their own drums. they are...

Mass Effect 2

i plan on getting

Yakuza 3
Red Dead Redemption
3D Dot Game Heroes
Alan Wake
The Last Guardian

during the PS1 era, i was all about Capcom (Resident Evil, Dino Crisis), Squaresoft (FFVII-FFIX, Parasite Eve, pretty much almost ALL of their RPGs), and Konami (Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: SOTN, Silent Hill).

until Ape Escape, Alundra, and Legend of Dragoon, i tended to steer clear of SCE games.

it really wasn't until the PS2, when Sony realized that Nintendo's strategy of having a strong stable of first and second party games, and started to pump...

to me is that i wasn't even paying much attention to this game, because my plate was full with titles like Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII, and Mass Effect 2, but then i finally sat down and started watching the various trailers, and reading up on it, and now i'm sold.

i just need to find the money to get it!

for the 360, i have Fable 2, Mass Effect 1 and 2, and some Xbox games like Fable 1, and KOTOR 1 and 2.

i used to have Crackdown, but got rid of it (more for new games, than for any reasons against the game itself, since i loved it).

i won't list the PS3 games i've had, but it was plenty. i get multi-plat games on my PS3 also, because i prefer the controller, and if the multi-plat has MP, there's no way i'm getting the 360 version, since i bare...

i got the import version for $46 last year, but i ended up trading it in out of desperation (Heavy Rain, WKC, and GoW3 were coming out, and i needed them BAD).

i was thinking of getting the US version so i can play with friends, but didn't want to spend $60 on it. i'll definitely get it for $39 when i can, but newer games have precedent at the moment (3D Dot Game Heroes, and Red Dead Redemption).

is that why does it seem like Sony has to explain/justify EVERY SINGLE ONE of their actions this generation?

they don't need to explain why LBP2 is a retail game, and not DLC. hell, Activision didn't have to explain why Modern Warfare 2, which looks and plays identical to the original, and has a 5 hour single player game, wasn't released as a $15 expansion, so why does Media Molecule and Sony have to explain while LBP2 is retail, not DLC?

the feat...

i don't actually think i ever captured all of the souls, or leveled all of them up.

it's funny, but the GBA game Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, had me addicted to it because of the same mechanic.

i mentioned this in a response on another thread that i mentioned Folklore, but the music and art design were FANTASTIC, like playing through a game designed by the Jim Henson Group, and the game play was really, really fun.

i LOVED figuring ou...

the only gamer out there that appreciates Folklore.

the sad thing is, it did rather well over it's lifetime, enough to warrant a sequel, but the stigma attached to those early reviews made Game Republic and Sony drop it, and NOW they're making a multi-platform game (which looks genuinely good), and of course NOW the gaming media is talking about how promising the game looks, when, honestly, it doesn't look like it'll have the depth of Folklore.

I'M a PS3 guy.

in fact, i play my PS3 more than i play my 360. i prefer the PS3 over the 360 in every way, and yet i'm looking forward to Alan Wake.

don't generalize the PS3 community. sure, there are a handful of PS3 trolls on this site (just like there are a handful of 360 trolls) that make it seem like there are this legion of fanboys rampaging N4G, but in truth, most of the folks on here are relatively level headed, and can give credit where ...

i may suspiciously eye you when you are near my apples, but i agree 100% with your comment.

Modern Warfare 2 got a LOT of high praise, even 10/10 scores, but for ME, i don't think the game is more than average.

on the flip side, a game i think is absolutely fantastic: Folklore, got piss poor reviews from major sites like Gamespot (Gamespot gave it a 7/10 among other sites).

to each his own, though. the only time i really complain about lo...

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Year 2:

how hilarious it would be if some creator came up with a "MMO" for LBP. where you and 3 buddies get to explore a "world" together, killing enemies, collecting loot, and leveling up.

something along the lines of WKC, where you team up with a few friends and venture into a world.

you could probably build a community of creators who could be responsible for creating a particular "world/land" then string them together or create a HUB...

to see how differently the US and European markets are receiving Alan Wake.

the game actually does have a bit of a BBC look/feel to it.

i'm from the US, and i love a good story, whether in a game, movie, or book. i also love a completely irreverent, ridiculous story (think the movie Shoot Em Up. it's absolutely absurd, but it's highly entertaining when you take the movie for what it is; a sort of send up of over the top action movies).

ANY developer, not just Remedy, scores in the 8+ range are considered rather successful, and they'd be RIGHT.

if you are going along a 10 point scale, 5 would be considered Average, 6; Slightly Above Average, 7; Above Average, 8; Good, 9; Very Good, 10; Excellent.

Alan Wake, so far, falls in the Good-Very Good category. how is that not a success.

sure, a few bonehead sites have given it lower than 8 (and 7 in some cases), but it seems rat...

i live in Los Angeles, and during the summer it's BEAUTIFUL out. not to mention the babes on the beaches make a trip worth while.

with that said, nothing is better after a day at the beach than sitting on your ass and playing a great game to unwind.

i do plan on catching up on all the games i missed over the past 12 months this summer, if my gaming budget allows.

i won't be able to pick up Alan Wake any time soon, as well as 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Red Dead Redemption :(, so i'd love to hear your thoughts on Alan Wake.

the reviews haven't swayed me, they never do, but i always like to hear a gamer's opinion on games, instead of a paid shill.

i plan on picking it up in June, when my gaming budget clears (i may have to wait until July, as i REALLY want to buy my wife a PS3 to compliment the new HDTV i bo...
