Heavenly Sword was a GREAT game that was absolutely trashed in reviews because it was "too short."
you can beat Super Mario Bros 3 in 30 minutes, but god forbid a game is 8 hours long (this 5 hour Heavenly Sword length was BS. it took me a little over 8 hours to beat it the first time, then i spent another 5 or 6 for a second playthrough to unlock everything).
i remember when games were criticized for having crappy controls, ugly graphics, bad production va...
so that my fellow Playstation 3 owners will see how much of an overhyped feature it really is.
i have a 360. i have access to all of it's supposedly superior functions, and honestly, in game menu access is so...meh. seriously.
i don't see why everybody creams their pants over it.
don't get me wrong, it's a nice feature to have, but it's nothing so revolutionary as to warrant the constant pestering Sony is being hammered with for it. it'll come when it co...
and yeah, i think i'm good with bubbles for now. lol
if i can get a quality service, of damn near equal value, at NO EXTRA COST to me, then why WOULDN'T i choose that free service over the pay one?
on the PS3, i can:
have a friends list
chat with friends via text
chat with friends via video (we can run D&D sessions via the PS3 without having to be in the same room; nice)
send game invites to those friends (just not cross game)
can download content from the PS Store (ie, Wallpapers, demos, th...
1. You don't pay to play - PSN is free, so playing with friends won't cost you any more than your ISP. Sure, X Box Live's annual fee is annual, and only $50 per year, but in essence, you are sacrificing the cost of one game every year, in order to play online. Imagine, if you will; buying Gears of War 2 this fall, or renewing your X Box Live subscription this fall. wouldn't you rather play Gears of War 2, than have to cough up that $50 for Live? Personally, i don't feel the need to pay any mo...
been out for going on three years, and the best looking game on the console is *STILL the two year old Gears of War, it doesn't surprise me that this Wii engine could produce something on par with the 360 as well.
see? the pointless, fanboy drivel can flow both ways. open zone is thataway --->
but what happens when you begin to implement, i don't know...
PHYSICS
AI
COLLISION DETECTION,
etc
and all those other little things that eat up game memory outside of texture data and map rendering?
i don't know why some folks just don't admit that the Wii is an inferior console to the 360 and PS3 in terms of number crunching.
i've yet to see an X Box 360 game look as good as Heavy Rain, yet alone a WII game. hell, i haven'...
oh yeah, i forgot, the PS3 is "expensive," "has crappy online," and "has no games."
silly me!
as for Haze, Free Radical hasn't disappointed me yet, and my favorite game from those guys so far is Second Sight.
Haze will always be on my radar, but they need to release it quick, as too many games are hitting that are vying for my time. Haze will, at the least, be a good time. and that's all i really ask of my video games.
as i'm a tester/TRG guy on it.
but after playing the game via Remote Play on my PSP, and then plugging in my old PC controller and playing for a few minutes with the analog controls, i really wished Factor 5 had included analog controls with the game to begin with.
i downloaded the patch, but unfortunately, i traded Lair in a long time ago (i think for Warhawk).
i'll probably buy it again eventually, but it's going to be a while, as GTAIV hits next week, and that will dominate my time until Haze h...
ISN'T just mindless pointing a gun and shooting nonstop.
The Darkness wasn't a great game, but it was certainly a unique FPS in that you had cool powers.
the game was more like a First Person Adventure game than a first person shooter, and maybe that's why i liked it.
i agree that Jackie's "Goodfellas" voice was grating, but the atmosphere of the world was good, the story was well done, and the Darkness powers were pretty cool.

for others it won't.
end of story.
personally, it depends on the game.
i like the downloadable content for Folklore.
i don't care about downloadable content for GTAIV.
the difference, is that Folklore is, roughly, a 15 hour game. extra content is welcome.
GTAIV is a 100+ hour game. there is plenty fun to be had in that 100+ hours, not to mention the multi-player modes. in short, i'll get my fill of GTAIV long before...
what i find amusing is how many people are taking Hideo Kojima's comments to heart.
the guy is a perfectionist, who will never be happy with his work. this is what drives him to continue to produce the amazing games that he does; he's constantly striving to produce that "perfect" game, at least perfect in his eyes.
thankfully, that hasn't happened yet, and he's still making games.
as for the graphics of MGS4? it looks fantastic to me, and yes, ...
from the Japanese store, and when i started the game, it went it automatically gave me English text.
hopefully, this Siren demo will, at the least, have English text. since the game features an American cast, i'm going to take a wild stab and guess that the audio will be in English.
even so, i've played Siren before, so i imagine it shouldn't be too hard to putz around with the buttons to figure it out. i played the Japanese Yakuza 3 demo, which has no English ANYTHI...
was flawed, but terrifying.
if they fix the controls (it was horribly sluggish), then they have a great game on their hands.
outside of Silent Hill and Fatal Frame, Siren is one of the scariest games i've ever played.
i'm looking forward to the demo next Thursday.
there's a Silent Hill map.
it's a capture the flag map, and kind of small, but it's very well done. it has two "sides" to it, as when you take a portal, it takes you to the "nightmare Silent Hill," which is the exact same map, but with the patented evil look.
it's not one of the best maps i've played, but as a Silent Hill fanboy, it was cool to see (that, and the mapper beat me to it; i was planning on a Silent Hill map myself, but i've been too b...
is that i have the Unreal Tournament where i can deathmatch with Cloud Strife, Spawn, Marcus Fenix, Bender, Master Chief, a bunch of Locusts, and Samus Aran... in SILENT HILL.
enjoy your five "exclusive" maps. i'll be enjoying them soon enough, once a modder "ports" them to the PS3 version of UT3.
i have no real beef against the 360, but the truth of the matter is that 360 owners are being robbed of THE reason to even bother with UT3.
...
that means a lot to me, because if i'm able to tackle the co-op split-screen, me and my fiance would be able to play together.
we're always looking for new games to play, and we're currently playing through Resistance co-op, but there aren't enough games in this new generation yet, that support co-op that's NOT online only.
i'm not buying another PS3 anytime soon, and i'm certainly not going to buy two copies of GTAIV just so me and my fiance can play together.
...
i've known about this Siren game on the PS3 for a long time now.
it's been so long i don't actually remember where i read it (probably OPM or something).
the first Siren was terrifying, but the clumsy controls really hurt it. i still own it, but i haven't beaten it, because it can get frustratingly hard.
if they fix the control issues in this remake, i'm all over it, because it truly was terrifying. it's like a Japanese Silent Hill.
Sony has...
but i think it's just something we'll have to deal with in these next gen games.
the effort it takes the machines to render the stuff they are rendering shouldn't be taken for granted.
a little screen tearing here or there doesn't destroy the gaming experience.
i'd definitely like for screen tearing to not exist, of course, but it's kind of silly to presume that the developers AREN'T trying to address the issues, but i'm sure more pressing issues (like m...
