WHAT'S with the disagrees?
it's true, i haven't had any GTAIV problems yet.
it's also true that i've had my PS3 since February '07.
it's true that Rockstar are looking for a solution to both consoles.
it's true that i feel bad for the folks that are having this issue.
it's true that the 360 has more than just GTAIV related issues plaguing it at the moment (ie, the Red Rings, and odd video card failures, which have happened to tw...
bought back in February 2007, and so far i haven't had any problems with GTAIV.
i haven't played it online much (i logged on for a few minutes launch day just to give it a look see, but it's been all single player for me).
i feel bad for the folks that are having issues, and i hope my copy doesn't freak out on me anytime soon (i'm only 32% done with the game, after about 20+ hours of playtime, so far). it's not like Rockstar isn't trying to figure out what this issue...
SERIOUSLY?
there...are people...that actually COUNT the pixels in games?
so this is what fanboyism has devolved into? counting pixels?
does anyone realize how sad and pathetic that sounds/is?
and the fact that there are people here (that i won't point out), ARGUING over said pixel findings is sadder still.
anyway, my HDTV is 720p, and GTAIV looks great no matter what, so i don't care.
enough with the arguing about G...
i believe they were both designed with each console's specific talents in mind.
i believe they had a PS3 team, and a 360 team. not to mention some of Sony's engineers stopped by to give them a hand on coming to grips with the PS3 architecture.
2 minute video comparisons of a 40+ hour game, and everybody's an analyst.
personally, i think the 360 looks sharper in the videos.
the PS3 has that "hazy" look going on which i prefer.
i have the PS3 version, and the "hazy/warm" look makes the city look more like a movie to me.
as for cutscenes, well, the character models aren't anything to write home about, but the city itself is breathtaking.

"This is such b*&(sh&t. You PS3 boys crapped a brick when GTA was coming out for 360, and spent the last week rejoicing because your version "has brighter colors."
*it's more than just brighter colors (personally, i don't see the brighter colors thing, but that's just me).
it's more like:
less pop in
shorter load times
smoother edges (filter or not, there is less aliasing on the PS3 version)
stabler frame rate
give the game more time. i'm 28 years old (29 in July), and i've been playing GTA games since i turned 18 in '97.
back then, and when GTAIII hit, of course i was highly amused by being able to kill whoever i wanted, bang prostitutes, car jack, visit strip clubs, etc, but since i started playing GTAIV, i haven't done any but visit the strip club (hanging out with Roman), and i've only stolen cars when i needed to to get around, and only killed who i needed to for missions.

i mean, if you are Niko Bellic, grown man, what in the world are you doing looking up "teen whatever," and "little beauty pagent" stuff in the first place?
the 4 or 5 star rating you get when you view those sites is hilarious to me.
it's just Rockstar poking fun (and maybe punishing those "curious" enough to go to the site.
of course pedophelia is one of the most disgusting things a human being can do to a child, but i think...
that i bought in February 07, and so far i haven't had any issues.
i only played online once (i'm more into the story mode), and when i tried to log in yesterday, i couldn't, but that's because i couldn't log into my PSN, because our ISP was acting stupid all last night.
i'm about 8-10 hours into the single player campaign, and i haven't had a single performance issue (no framerate issues, no pop ins that i've notices, no freezes).
hopefully i won't get ...
a Playstation 3 at a MIDNIGHT LAUNCH?
i bought my PS3 in BROAD DAYLIGHT, with my big black roommate for backup(i'm just a little black guy, not very intimidating. lol).
there's no way in hell i would have bought my PS3 that late at night and by myself.
in either case, i agree with you that the 360 will probably outsell the PS3 version. in the US. i'm not too sure about the rest of the world (ie, the UK and Australia).
it doesn't matter ultim...
the graphics were never an issue to me, it was the PERFORMANCE of the game.
from what we've heard, the performance on the PS3 is better, but everyone is trying to downplay it, when last year, if a PS3 game performed less than a 360 game (which was quite often, and also equally miniscule), the PS3 would be absolutely REAMED, torn to shreds, points demerited from the final score. i just hate the hypocrisy. even when they were GOOD PORTS (ie, Fight Night Round 3, Call of Duty 4, etc...
but when was the last time one of Uwe Boll's movies grossed over $600 million worldwide?
Bay is a douche. but he's a funny douche.
when i tried to give multi-player a try to see if it was any good (to my surprise, it IS; i'm not a big online gamer, and i get GTA games for the single player story).
i simply retried it.
it worked the second time.
personally, i think it may have been server overload.
it almost seems like the very same media that has been blasting the Playstation 3 since E3 2006, and Sony announced that $500/$600 price tag for the PS3, are trying to relight...
i like being able to view the shows in full screen (some of them are really funny, and worth seeing in full), but it shouldn't be a deal breaker for any 360 owner who plans on picking the title up for that system.
i bought the PS3 version, and i only watched a little of the TV, and i just assumed that the full screen TV option would be in both versions.
considering how amazing the game is, i don't see how this should insight a flamewar, but then again, if a game is o...
a 60gig PS3 that i got back in February 2007.
so far, i haven't had any problems with GTAIV. i played for about 2.5-3 hours last night, and didn't come across any framerate issues, pop in, or freezes, thankfully.
i wouldn't doubt that issues like this happen, as it's a new game, a huge game, and bound to have some imperfections. my heart goes out to those folks that are having issues, because it's truly a great game, and we've all been waiting a LOOONG time for this ...
as we all know both versions are quite comparable on the graphics end, minus some slight color/saturation variations and anti-aliasing.
what concerns me is the PERFORMANCE issue between the two games.
in a cut scene, in game cutscene or not, you don't have to worry about things like AI, player controlled, input, etc.
but in the actual gameplay, issues like texture pop in, framerate issues, and load times are important (Mass Effect, anyone? great game, bu...
hate the game...
...wait a minute...
anyway, i'm sure some developers are envious of GTA's success, but i doubt they hate. chances are, they'll pick up a copy just like everybody else, if anything but to try and decipher what it is about the game that everybody loves so much.
so far, i can't think of a single developer that has come close to emulating the real world in the way that Rockstar has.
people bandy about Saints Row all the time, but o...
have earned a little gloating rights lately.
not the fanboys, but the fans, that have had to put up with quite a bit of sh*ttalking from both the Nintendo and MS camps for the past two years.
all we heard was
"PS3 is too expensive" (fixed)
"PS3 has no rumble" (fixed)
"PS3 has sh*tty online" (anyone who's played on the PSN knows that, minus a few little perks, the PSN is GREAT for online gaming. better than frien...
about the beta when i played it a bit last Friday before work, but after playing it all weekend, i really like it a *LOT. i'm currently working on leveling up my skills.
the downside for the beta, to me, is that there are so few people that have headsets, which make coordinating plans difficult.
overall, it's really good and tactical, and it's just one more game for me to add on my "Figboy is slowly becoming an online gamer" list.
right now, on...
personally, i don't think reviews count for sh*t these days, and i'd much rather get my own hands on the title and give it a try myself.
as for GTAIV, i'd break it down as thus:
Graphics: Liberty City is one of the most realistic, "alive" environments i've experienced in a game this generation of consoles. i was wowed when GTAIII hit 8 years ago, but i never thought i'd be wowed again. the depth of this game, on a visual level, is astounding. the animations...
