Final Fantasy XIII is coming out for the Xbox 360 THIS week.
there hasn't been a release date for ANY version of the game, so it could be out on the 360 in 2010 for all we know. same for the PS3 version.
what they showed for THIS year wasn't bad, but outside of Gears 2, Fable 2, Viva and Banjo, WHAT is hitting the 360 this year?
i noticed they didn't say anything about Too Human (i guess that's been swept under the rug already, sadly), Halo Wars and Alan...
Sony has quite a few strong first party IPs to utilize this generation:
Alundra
Dark Cloud
Mark of Kri (and Rise of the Kasai)
Twisted Metal
Gran Turismo
Buzz
Singstar
White Knight Story
Heavy Rain
Sly Cooper
Jak and Daxter
Ratchet and Clank
Resistance
Motorstorm
Uncharted
Wipeout

a Sony exclusive franchise?
what, do FF: Crystal Chronicles, FF Tactics Advance, and the quadrillion FF 1-4 remakes seen on the DS and PSP not exist?
in either case, this was a major coup for Microsoft, but i think the authors of this story forget just how many first party developers Sony has cranking away on true exclusive IPs for the Playstation 3.
dead in the water? hardly. unless they pull the plug on the many exclusives developers such as Insomniac,...
LBP is one of two games hitting this fall that i'm absolutely geeked out over, and i can't believe i forgot to add it to my list!
that's definitely another feather in the PS3's cap.
but i'm kind of left wondering:
where are the new titles that they actually OWN?
i was hoping they'd announce some new IPs, to get us 360 owners excited about what's coming for the console that WON'T, in any way, shape or form be available on other platforms.
they have:
Gears of War 2
Fable 2
Too Human (though no one seems to want to talk about this one anymore)
Alan Wake
Halo Wars
Halo Chronicles (i'm not sure ...
i put his predictions in the same category of accuracy as i do Miss Cleo.
just wait for the official numbers from NPD. all this guesswork is, honestly, pointless, ESPECIALLY if it's coming from Patcher. has that guy EVER been right?
DJ's history of quotes, how can ANYONE not take this comment as sarcasm? i got it right away (and if anyone read the previous page, you'd see how he TRULY feels about this game.
not everything needs a "/sarcasm" identifier, in particular if you happen to know someone's "personality." for example, if Power of Green had said, "man, this game looks great!" we'd roll our eyes and ignore him, because, chances are, he was being sarcastic, given his amazing...

planet floor tidy...that way they can cover it in human blood. lol.
aren't going to steal Microsoft's thunder.
the fact that Sony has 23 studios working on exclusive titles for the PS3, and the fact that there are still MILLIONS of diehard Playstation fans that have yet to buy a PS3 (one of my friends is one; he's just waiting for the price to go below $400), will definitely add to it.
there are a LOT of PS3 exclusive titles that have yet to be revealed from Sony's various studios, and most of them are working on more than ONE ti...
however, i enjoyed it a lot, the original release, and with the new "analog stick control" release.
unfortunately, i ended up trading it in because i was a few bucks short on dough when MGS4 came out, but i'll pick it up again ($20 from Gamefly is worth it).
the story is interesting, controlling the dragon isn't as godawful as people think (though there is one mission that is frustrating beyond belief, but after passing it, the rest of the game was cake...
have a lot of boring filler talk, and it's only the "surprise" announcements of new games and services that interest us gamers. do we REALLY care about how much profit Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft made in the last year? or how many units of X game is selling?
in truth; we SHOULDN'T. we should care about the various software and services hitting the consoles.
that's why the gaming industry goes to these events, sits through the boring stuff, and reports...
they're called:
Heavy Rain (Quantic Dream)
LA Noire (Rockstar)
Afrika (? could be a sleeper. certainly is nice-looking though. and i love nature and National Geographic, so this game is right up my alley)
White Knight Story (Level 5)
Little Big Planet (Media Molecule)
Infamous (Sucker Punch)
The Agency (SOE)
Pixel Junk Eden
Elefunk
Flower (That Game Company)
Team Ico's new project (usually a New IP, even if it does have...
that the PSP is almost becoming the home for new RPG IPs.
dammit, send some of that stuff the PS3's way guys!
anyway, i'm always up for a new RPG (even though i don't have the time to play them all; i'm still playing FFXII, Rogue Galaxy, FF: Crisis Core, and more. not even halfway through beating them, and have invested over 20 hours in each so far) so i'll keep my eyes open on this one.
you know what i find funny?

it'd be a fun surprise announcement at Konami's press conference.
i'm not expecting any announcements, but it's nice to dream.
free DLC is always good, and i have the HDD space to store it all.
i'm starting my 4th playthrough of MGS4. i haven't even TOUCHED the online, outside of playing the Beta back then. i just can't get enough of the excellent single player.
this demo.
the last time i saw this game in the flesh was at E3 2006, and, well, it didn't look too hot, but i chalked that up to it being E3, and it's early, incomplete build.
even despite all of the recent previews expressing their concerns (i didn't see any articles about "what >insert hyped game< needs to fix before release" for games like MGS4, Bioshock, Gears of War, Killzone 2, etc, etc), i'm still looking forward to Too Human.
i m...
i own both consoles too, and i enjoy both (but i honestly play my PS3 more), but look back at what this site was just 12 months ago (before E3 2007), and look back even further at what it was the year before, 2006, and ALL IT WAS was doom and gloom for Sony, and Xbox fanboys running rampant, having a ball, while the poor PS3 owners didn't have much of a defense to back up their claims as to why we supported the PS3 in any way shape or form.
fastforward to now, and we have a machi...
can ANY of the 15 year old gamers that drool over Gears of War and it's "bigger, better, and more badass" gameplay say that, in 10, even 20 years, they'll still love the character of Marcus Fenix?
i didn't get introduced to Solid Snake at the very beginning, but i did play the NES Metal Gear once upon a time in the late 80's, early 90's; a friends copy.
it wasn't until 1998 and Metal Gear Solid that i fell in love with Solid Snake.

i'm currently sick at home with a flu type thing, so my brain is a little addled.
i was thinking of two things at once when i typed this:
1)so far this generation, Sony has been on the receiving end of beatings from multi-platform games: releasing late on the system, with many (NOT ALL, as Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, and Devil May Cry 4 to name a few can attest to), being very, VERY subpar ports of the 360 version, with worse graphics, worse framerate, and inex...
