first and second party studios working on projects for the PS3 for us to accurately guess it.

August 3rd is in two weeks. i advise just being patient and waiting. play some games. read a book, or *gasp* go outside and get some fresh air (the smell of socks and cheetos in your bedroom is probably not healthy. lol).

"Big Boned Princess" didn't have enough ring to it.

anyway, i saw this coming the moment i heard about this game.

historical significance aside, the game is just an absurdity in concept, that is all.

it's a unique take on Capture the Flag for gamers.

we aren't poking fun at the princess, we are trying to rescue her, and the opposing team is making that hard by stuffing the princess full of cakes to make her fat.

i thou...

and reinforces in my mind that that trailer was created using some in game assets (notably backgrounds and character models. the rest could be post-processing effects).

i'm not a huge online gamer, but i'll keep my eyes out on this one, especially if it's anything like Warhawk, which i enjoy the most out of all of the online games i've played so far.

i admit the huge battles have me intrigued. i imagine they get quite intense, especially if two or more squads join up...

thank god this guy doesn't design gaming consoles.

i bet he lovingly strokes his Atari 2600, since he obviously doesn't want the gaming industry to GROW.

it's kind of hard to keep secrets when you only have 10 first and second party studios working on games for your system.

i posted it in another thread, so i won't post it here, but Sony has over 30 studios working on exclusive titles for the PS3. many working on more than one title (10 2nd party, 20 first party).

the PS3 will simply have more exclusives in the end.

to Basch: thanks. i completely forgot about those exclusives, but i was primarily trying t...

actually played a role in MGS4 (characters realistically used them to communicate).

did Mountain Dew play a role in Halo 3's campaign mode?

was the Master Chief chugging the Dew before going on a mission?

i don't think so.

actually, Mountain Dew probably would have been some good product placement in MGS4, since Drebin and his monkey are addicted to soda.

FFXIII probably won't see the light of day in the US and UK until 2010 at the earliest. the Japanese version could either hit in late late 2009 (ie, Christmas season), or in early 2010.

in the interim of FFXIII hitting the PS3 in Japan, and the PS3 and 360 in the US,

the Playstation 3 will have released:

Resistance 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Little Big Planet
SOCOM: Confrontation
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Siren: Blo...

i think the answer to your question is: a little foresight.

take Naughty Dog for instance, they designed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune with Medals, an equivalent of Trophies/Achievements into Uncharted from the beginning.

they simply assumed that Trophies would be coming to the PS3 (they though around the time Uncharted released, though), so they programed the hooks into the game.

they've even said that patching the game to supported Trophies was really eas...

i did leave off a few second and first party studios, but only because the list i was looking at was from an older issue of OPM, and it didn't have all of them.

i found some of the others, but by the time i did, it was too late to update my earlier comment.

i think my point was made pretty well, though; Sony has a sh*t ton of first and second party studios cranking away on exclusive PS3 titles for not just this year, but next year, and the year after, and the year af...

is a shell of a shell of a shell of it's former self, there wasn't much to win.

in truth, i think Sony had the best showing; they announced continuing support for the PS2. announced some really cool PSP games. and their conference, as well as the last three days of E3, were full of info on NEW and EXCLUSIVE, first and second party titles for both the PS3 and PSN. most of them releasing this fall (the only games they showed that i can think of that aren't coming until 2009 are God...

but she watched EVERY MINUTE of it.

she even stayed up with me until 6:45 in the morning to watch the ending cutscene with me, saying, "this is the best video game ever."

she loves Snake, and she cried so many times during the game that i lost count.

even in subsequent playthroughs, she still cried at the same parts, though she knew how it was all going to turn out.

everybody's different, and has their own opinions, but i just don...

but it seems more apt to say it here:

i watched the trailer in HD on my 40" HDTV, and i think some of the trailer was in game. i only say this, because there are certain parts in the trailer where you can see funny textures and edges not common in full CGI trailers. watch the trailer in HD, as large as you can some day, and really scrutinize the backgrounds, ground textures, and character textures and faces (especially at the end, where the dead soldier is laying down on the...

PS3 has the potential to better the PS2 this gen.

it's getting the multi-plats.

it has a plethora of varied, exclusive titles.

it has a lot of potential and expansion on the hardware side to keep it relevant.

online is coming along nicely as well.

i also think people forget that the PS3 has yet to reach it's second birthday. the second year of the PS2 was better than the first, but it really wasn't until year three that things r...

how many first and second party studios Sony has working on Playstation 3 exclusives.

here, i'll break it down (thanks to Official Playstation Magazine for compiling the list of first and second party studios)

SECOND PARTY:

1)Insomniac: working on Resistance 2 and Ratchet: QFB (their North Carolina studio just opened, so i don't expect hearing from them until next year or later)

2)Slant Six: working on SOCOM: Confrontation

3)Rea...

joystiq?

REALLY?

the guys who, for the past two years, jizzed all over every bit of "bad" Playstation 3/Sony news, downplayed every quality PS3 title released during the console's first year (ie, Uncharted, Ratchet, etc), and are just an all around bunch of douchebags?

those guys didn't have anything positive to say about a Playstation 3?

NOOOO. you DON'T SAY...

i'm not a big racing fan, but i was surprised at how much fun i was having with Motorstorm last year.

and this one is looking a lot faster, and more colorful, and it's coming out this year to boot. i may have to keep an eye out for this one (action/adventure games and rpgs always take precedence, so if i have some leftover funds after those, i might pick this one up).

for me. guaranteed.

this game, and Little Big Planet always bring a smile to my face when i hear the name or see videos, interviews about them.

great premise for a video game. i can see me, my fiance, my roommate's, and a few of our close buddies huddled up on both TVs and PS3's, having a ball with this title while drinking and partying.

i just lost interest in the series after the first one.

i had a blast playing Halo 1 with the guys at Activision, and with my friends using LAN, but i just realized that i'm not that huge of a multi-player gamer, and the campaign mode of Halo 2 and 3 just didn't keep my interest.

i respect what the original did for console FPS titles after Goldeneye on the N64 redefined them, but other than that, i don't know. Halo's not really my thing anymore like it used to be way...
