@jb227
I think you said it a lot better than me.
'everything released is great...no bad stuff, no good stuff, no exceptional stuff...just a single vanilla idea of everything being "fun enough to play for a bit"' Agree completely.
Do it Bill.
My comment isn't a defense of this review btw which is far too short and lacking in details to even be published...
Just a defense of giving a game a 3 out of 10 with an explanation and argument to back it up.
Spot on. I think PSVR will be a lot of fun and a good entry level option but PC VR will be where quality is really pushed. PSVR is currently in the best position to popularise it and drive investment though.
The vast majority of games don't get released unplayable nowadays (barring online issues). By reserving a score less than 5 out of 10 for games which are close to unplayable... you are basically removing these scores from use for reviewers thereby raising the average score to 7.5 out of 10. What would you give a game which releases intermittently unplayable due to server problems? A 3?
The whole score range should be used to actually differentiate between titles. If a rev...
One game. Which unfortunately is a tough sale to the masses. No man's sky also, which is hopefully good fun and engaging.
But you'd be lying if you said this gen has made big changes to game design. The vast majority of games are of the same style as titles from 10 years ago. Gameplay from 6th to 7th gen was almost as big as the graphical jump. 7th to 8th has just been a refinement in both regards.
VR will hopefully inject a spark and change things up...
TLoU has the best MP I've ever played. The pacing and strategy is just so unique and it makes for a tense and exhilirating experience. Stealth was spot on for MP. You actually have time to think and plan in TLoU MP, and you have to think if you want to do well. Ammo and health really matters, as does working well in a team.
Uncharted is a more generic action MP experience, where everyone runs around the map and does lots of shooting. To do well is more based on your react...
I think if it wasn't such a bad thing it wouldn't be called "grinding".
grinding
ˈɡrʌɪndɪŋ/
adjective
adjective: grinding
1.(of a difficult situation) oppressive and seemingly without end.
"grinding poverty"
2.(of a sound or movement) harsh and grating.
"the grinding roar of the lorries"
Any mods that make the story decent yet? Would be great if someone released a mod which cut out all the supoerfluous missions and filler content. Just like 5-10 missions with transitions from one to the next rather than having to walk 20 mins to the next one. Dat game design doe.
The App Store/Play Store are entirely different platforms with also very different users compared to PCs. Phones are ubiquitous, everyone has one and wants it to be as easy to use as possible - which involves sacrificing freedoms. Most tbh, aren't even aware how restrictive the setup is and enjoy living in the safe Apple/Google ecosphere (few will know how to or bother to sideload apps or root their phone).
For MS it depends if there are enough casual users who still own ...
I don't know why I'd buy 4 or Primal tbh... I played and enjoyed 3 but these two games seem to be indistinguishable at face value. I'm definitely going to play Blood Dragon and if 4 or Primal comes to PS+ I'll play them but I don't see the value in buying either game for more than £5-10 - too similar to Far Cry 3.
It's actually annoying when a series finds a formula that financially works for them, because then we stop seeing changes and innovatio...
I wasn't following this game and thought it was an expansion to 4. Feels like there wasn't enough time since 4 released to make a full fledged title.
VR will elevate this game to the next level... without it, it won't live up to the years of hype it has received.
Sony should have released KZ Shadowfall and Infamous SS via Plus by now imo.
Still it's great value considering you only need to get about 3-4 games per year you enjoy to get your money's worth. The ability to play lots of games you wouldn't normally is also a valuable experience to me.
It definitely was more valuable when big games were offered up all the time though and it was very annoying of them to make that change while at the same time maki...
Pause at 2:06...
Anyone else notice how short all the characters are :P That fire extinguisher and waist high trolley are towering over them lol jk
Worth playing to see the biggest doors in a video game ever.
Sorry meant to reply ages ago... Is it good enough to track fingers and hands accurately? i.e. do you think we will see experiences where your hands are used as a controller?
For most games I'd want something tactile like the move controller to replicate an object but for just picking things up and looking at them, I'd prefer just to use my hands.
I have a strong suspision that you just made up that "Most big companies especially in tight markets with new tech will make several variations minor & major that can be switched upon at the last minute usually due to competitor pricing"... pretty sure that's a load of rubbish pulled from nowhere to back up your first comment. It doesn't even seem feasible with the amount of deals which have to be made for components and quantity etc.
I'd be interest...
What are you using them for that they require cleaning... o.O
How good is the new PS Camera at recognising hands/fingers? I guess not great. Would be nicer not to have to wear gloves.
So happy they're supporting this game with new arenas all the time. That was my only complaint when it first released - not enough variety...
There is still so much they can do with this game I really hope we keep seeing more. I feel bad getting it "free" on PS+, I may download some of the DLC to support them more directly. Definitely my favourite game of the generation so far.
