^^Perfect example of rational but slightly biased PS4 fan vs Sony fanboy.
Hint: I'm not the fanboy lol
I don't think XBL is the gold standard anymore. PSN has caught up in terms of services, uptime and speed and the free games with Plus just pushes it over the edge to be slightly better than Live.
Games I would give to Xbox just now, but in the near future it will flip the other way for me. Controller I don't really have a big preference, I can use either fine.
I don't think you can conclude that it was dominated by Sony fanboys just because PS4 wo...
Looks really cool. I like the colours. MS must be really confident that this game will do well. Cue massive advertising budget!
It's true. Even though Plus is amazing value Sony shouldn't force everyone who wants to play online to join Plus.
They obviously saw how much money MS was making from Live and how willing people were to pay for it so you can understand why they did.
They have the right to do it, but if they were really all about the gamers they would give people the choice. A lot of $60 games are heavily MP focused now so a lot of that content is now behind a paywall...
Just an fyi that PS Now won't be using much if any of your hard drive space so you might be better off saving the $99 if that was your only reason for ordering.
That's fair enough. It's kind of silly of me to assume new games are automatically more fun. But these games can all be emulated on PC, which will likely continue for every gen here on out. And there are now NES/SNES/Megadrive USB adapters and controllers if you want the near-full experience. Also, what do you do when masses of these consoles stop functioning and they become to rare to buy?
I should have mentioned another big positive on the convenience side of things...
I forgot a negative for digital, download caps and dodgy internet. Although we are clearly talking well into the future, like 5 years+ where the infrastructure should be slightly better.
I get pretty bad internet where I live, like 5Mb/s max during off peak. But even that is fine for digital. Last physical games I bought were TLoU and GTAV but apart from that everything else has been PS+ or Steam downloads. In time, this will just get easier and for more people.
By that point your PC will be able to handle emulation and a rom will probably exist too. And I would have no problem torrenting a game years old that I owned at the time when the company no longer exists.
Also, if you hold on to games from 10 years ago you'll be missing out on more advanced and possibly better experiences in the future. How often do you actually crack out the ps1/2? And how often does nostalgia fail to deliver?
Digital games are so much better.
More convenient: don't need physical space to store or time to move.
Saves the environment: no need to transport, manufacture and store.
Potential to be much cheaper: see above.
More reliable: 0 digital games have been lost. They can just be redownload in the unlikely event of harddrive failure.
Much faster to start gaming: What is it like 10 mins after clicking download on the new consoles? Or instant with cloud ...
I think it's the sales difference in such a small time, along with the supply and demand traits, selling rate, PS4 outselling in major territories and the soon-to-be Japanese release that makes people think obliteration. At the current rate over the course of a 5 year generation it would be a 30 million difference which would be pretty substantial.
I agree though, it's far too strong of a word at this point. A generation is a long time and lots of games and features h...
@minimur12
I hope 12 is your age because that's the only way you're getting away with that terrible logic. Country to console ratio... HA!
Let's assume MS only released in the US and sold 1 million consoles and Sony released in 10 countries and sold 2 million consoles (including the US where 1.2 million were sold). That means MS would have a ratio of 1,000,000:1 and Sony 200,000:1. Are you suggesting that MS therefore has sold more because they have the po...
It's more powerful and it's cheaper. /fix
There's definitely other issues. Like trust in MS after NSA-gate and DRM-gate.
Then there's the subjective stuff like future games and online value for money.
But ultimately, that price will make a massive difference for the whole generation. Gamers who stick to 3rd party titles like CoD and Fifa will probably go for the cheaper console with slightly better graphics. Parents would be more willi...
Sony should keep this PS Now momentum up by announcing software emulation for ps1, ps2 and psp games on ps4. Local backwards compatibility would be easy to implement and be an even better feature to have! The two would compliment each other nicely too, local emulation for best performance, and Now for on the go, with other devices and for PS3 emulation.
As for Titanfall, it's hardly an issue if the game is action packed, balanced and well designed. CoD4 is still my favour...
Those products have been out for many months though... and no doubt they were hard to get hold of when they first released.
It's almost impossible to manufacture enough of a new tech product to meet demand in the first few months. Maybe MS have done a better job at investing in that first batch of manufacturing or maybe they've both produced similar numbers but demand isn't as high for Xbox One. We won't really know until official numbers have been released.
Thanks to PS+ I got to try this when it was on the European store... but I only played it for 10 minutes. Drab colours and poor sense of speed turned me right off. Vehicle morphing was a cool dynamic but not enough to make it remotely fun to me. Great thing about Plus is you get to try these games out and can easily just delete them if they're no good.
Still can't believe how much value Plus gives you. Signed up in October and had easily got my moneys worth by Novembe...
@CBaoth
I was talking about the comments above, not the article.
i.e. "I hate this country", "How very Russian of them lol" and "That's Russia for you".
It's just silly how people think this doesn't happen all over.
MGR: Revengeance has to be in there! Metal Gear Rising would have been great, but they had to make up a stupid word and tag it on to the end..
Which is definitely not just a Russian trait - which is the point Kos-Mos is making. I see it loads here in the UK... and there's nothing wrong with it in a free market. This is definitely more of a western capitalist market tactic so the comments above saying to the effect of "only in Russia", seem a little misinformed.
PS++?

You guys are usually a breath of fresh air on this site; providing opposing views to the majority. But you're losing a lot of credibility by sticking up for MS with this.
If you guys are master trolls, I can respect that. But honestly defending MS on this I can't understand..
