I think Kevin Van Ord does have integrity and honesty. I quite like most of his reviews since the points he makes always seem well thought out and are valid criticisms of the games. You have to remember these reviewers are playing hundreds of games a month and trying to objectively review them all. If a game doesn't stand out as exciting or fun, and instead repetitive then the score will suffer.

They're also not paying for the privilege of owning the game and that rea...

The Binding of Isaac is one of the gems of last gen! I got a bit of slowdown when playing on my laptop so can't wait to play it with a steady frame rate and DS4 controller.

When this was announced for PS4 I was hoping it would come to PS+ since I wanted it but not enough to repurchase.

I definitely bought a PS4 for great games like this, bring on Guacamelee 2 and other fun pick up and play games please.

This section *is* satire though. The writer thinks that threatening comments online should not just be accepted as the norm and people should not have to just get used to it. This message is far more congruent with the rest of the article.
When he says "Even dudes receive harsh remarks" then goes on to give an example of this as his wife being threatened, the writer is saying they think men don't receive the same type of criticism. Whether you agree or not is up to you ...

Could you imagine playing the whole game as his son... he was an awful character compared to John. I could see it if they completely changed his appearance and characteristics but I wouldn't want to play a game where the main character is a chubby whine merchant.

Plus they wrapped up the game nicely with no need for a sequel.

Surely it has to be Red Dead R_ _ _ _ _.

There's no reason to do a sequel since the game was wrapped up nicely in a single package.

Red Dead Retribution...nah, Red Dead Remembrance...nope, Red Dead Rebellion <- I like that last one! Heard it here first :)

You're right, the article is tiny too, I don't know why people don't just read it?

Anyway, I think Levine's last comment basically sums up my feelings towards the criticism: "Of course, if you want characters who start off always fully actualised, feel free to write those stories." Not that the critic should write their own story, but that a character, if written well, should develop as the story progresses.
Elizbeth was written really well ...

Never heard of grounded mode, sounds pretty cool... that would definitely increase the challenge!

TLOU on Survival isn't that difficult. Most encounters you have the upper hand by the enemy being unaware of your location. The AI is pretty good but the enemies' fields of view is very narrow and can be exploited. Add to that the numerous checkpoints throughout the game and it isn't very difficult.

Older games often added difficulty in the worst possible ways - bad checkpoint system or none at all, sometimes coupled with bad controls, and usually absolutely no in...

Same. I assume you can use a ds3/4 as a controller? Would be great to play the vita games with a controller cos the thumbsticks and lack of l2/3 r2/3 really let down some games. Plus streaming ps4 games and the ps1 and ps2 games on the PS store.

If I had multiple TVs in my house this would be a pretty cool device to hook up to a secondary TV.

Ha, what a joke! That +£4 for travel to the shop... hahahaha. And what if on your way to the shop you pass a chippy and are a little peckish. Gotta take that £3.50 half pizza crunch supper into account. What about the electricity required to keep your router on while playing PSNow... oh that will add up! Also while you are in your house instantly playing you'll need to keep the heating on, whereas if you go to the shop you can turn your storage heater off for 30 min - money in y...

VR requires a lot more power than a traditional game.

Don't know how it got approved either... funny though.

The premise sounds good but the name will probably lose more sales than it gains with what appears to be a family oriented game... bizarre choice unless the themes are like Concur's Bad Fur Day or the like.

Cupid Stunt sounds like a romantic rollercoaster of a game btw.

I think what he's saying is that right now developers have to put in filler sections to pad the game out to provide enough "value" for the gamer - which is actually detrimental to the overall quality. Publishers won't let them charge less for a game so they are forced to artificially extend the length.

It really depends on the game but I find a lot of them far too long.. I don't want to spend a few weeks completing a game that has been artificially exten...

New build is far too monotone for my liking too.
So much damage control going on in here.

For those saying it is more realistic for the time and setting... facepalm. Foliage was still green, red brick was still clearly distinguishable from brown wood or grey walls, shop fronts were still full of colour. Clothing could have colour too.

I don't like the new colour filter and change of costume. I thought reviewers had played an early build of the ga...

You just owned them @punctualdork (would have pwned them if you'd included some links)... but what good will it do? You have no chance of using logic, reason, verifiable evidence and science to change the minds of the people on the other side of this argument. The easiest way to change their minds would be to go back in time to when their holy book was being penned and make some slight amendments. Good luck.

I wouldn't be happy with myself if I developed a Free-to-Play or more accurately Wait-to-Play game like Candy Crush or the myriad of other cash grabs.

I really don't like the idea of developers consciously gimping their game to extract money from players. At certain points in Candy Crush, to progress you have to complete 3 quests, waiting 24h between each level..or you can pay them to unlock, or advertise for them on Facebook.

Every EA mobile game wor...

DmC was great fun. I'd only ever played a demo of one of the original games so maybe that allowed me to enjoy it for what it is rather than what it's not.
