Wading through that PR spin in the article, the man Barry puts up a good point. People want CPUs that have power, longevity, power-efficiency, and CHEAP. It's those 4 principles alone that made AMD Phenoms the force they are today. I personally recommend to anyone looking to build a nice, cheap, effective RIG (Not Dead Space) to use AMD CPUs because they provide the biggest bang for the buck. In PC gaming, I'm a fanboy of no hardware company, I side with whichever company gives me a run for m...

Damn, they got straight to the point when regarding whether to install the ODST game to HDD. I like it that way. \

For those that missed it:

The question that now needs to be asked: Did Microsoft think much of Halo before they bought Bungie or after?

Man me and you must be coming from different parts of the net. I'm a regular at Tom's Hardware, and man does it never end. The worst part about CPU fanboys (heck any hardware fanboy) in general is that they're always throwing around numbers and sometimes it's hard to sniff out the BS properly.

Well, at least PS3/360 Fanboys are alot more easier to deal with than Intel/AMD fanboys. Ugh.

Ah whatever man, we're gamers, not businessmen. Corporate stuff shouldn't bother us. All I need to know is that a demo is coming out and I happen to have the system that it's on. So I'm very excited.

Just goes to show how money talks in the gaming world. I know I won't support this. Heck, just hearing about this makes me not want to pre-order.

I gotta agree. Whether avatar clothing is worth it or not is up to each person to decide. I personally will not buy any digital clothes, but I'm not going to delete someone off my friends list if I see them with stuff bought from the marketplace.

I don't understand how people could have 100 friends and keep all of em. Chances are you only see about 10-20 of them at a time. Microsoft makes a good point though. That's 100 feeds that's constantly being updated by the second. There's enough stress on the servers enough as it is.

But I don't care to see the list go up since I have about 12 people on my friends list total.

Developers, get it straight. If your games don't suck, then people will buy new to support you. If your games provide bang for the buck content, then I will recommend others buy it new too to support you. If your games are too expensive for what's offered, I will buy used. If your games suck outright, I'll persuade everyone to buy used.

Get it straight EA, you don't control the market. We consumers/gamers do. And if we like your games, we'll buy it to support you. Give us a reaso...

So what if it's small? The point is that people are taking a stand against Activision. That's alot better than if no one did anything at all. And it's even alot better than those apathetic naysayers that sit on the sidelines doing nothing but moaning.

I would have to agree with this. It sucks that people lose their jobs, but those "people" don't do their jobs well. If they did it well, they'd still have a job. Let them go through the bankruptcy and hopefully, they'll learn from their mistakes and become better game developers because of it.

Wow, I only have about 9 friends on my list and I only keep people I know in real life on that list. Reaching 100 will be a problem for me. Especially since other friends don't play games.

You'd be surprised how sloppy both Microsoft and Sony are when using effective thermal compound/paste to cool their CPU/GPU (which is the hottest part of a console). If it prevents a bricked PS3, $10 and a bit of risk is very much worth the effort of saving $150-$200 in repairs. Also, having very good PC hardware experience, and an expertise in soldering, electronics, and a major in Physics goes a long way in this technical age.

Dusting a PS3's internals and replacing the thermal...

I totally agree with you. Each platform offers its own strengths, but that won't stop people from comparing an apple to an orange. Because then they'll find loopholes like saying the surface of an apple is more smooth than an orange and therefore better. Stupid stuff like that.

Most people know this, but don't likely understand it that PC devs work differently from console devs. PC devs have many setups they have to code their engine for. Console devs only have one setup. That st...

Long story short: The cards that come out of the gate are usually only the high-end ones. They usually cost around $300-$600 and are designed to power resolutions up to 2048x1536. The key factor is waiting until the mainstream cards come out that provide bang for the buck performance. It usually takes 6-12 months after initial release, but they evetually come. Patience is the word here.

The 8800GT, HD3870, 9800GTX+, HD4850 are perfect examples of bang for the buck performance. A ...
