In theory and purpose, the centrifugal fan does work out in terms of creating a vacuum to suck out hot air. But the bigger picture is always going to be how much air can be pushed in a single revolution, assuming the heat-fins are as fine as ever. No point in claiming anything if the cooling efficiency comes at the price of a PS3 that has audible noise that's more than the original PS3. The best solution here would be to find someone with a PS3 and some smarts, give them a portable temperatur...

Licensing the Microsoft RF tech was probably too much for MadCatz. It explains why PS3 is wireless because of the affordable bluetooth tech. Oh well, gamers lose every time because corporations want to play their politics.

And back off fanboys, this applies to everyone, including Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo. We gamers could have nice things, but they just don't play nice because money's the name of the game.

The original PS3 had a centrifugal fan too, but that's not what worries me. The PS3 blew out air in all directions. While the PS3 slim looks to only push it in one direction. Depending on the material used, the plastic can act as an insulator and make matters worst. I don't doubt Sony's hardware engineers, but there's a difference between design and execution. For all I know, they could take plastic from a scrap yard in Malaysia and use that: which is very unsafe.

Sony can try all they want, but PS2 owners are looking for reassurance regarding their current PS2 library. Why buy a PS3, even a Slim, if it can't play PS2 games? The American market thrives on convenience. We like it when we can do many things with just one device. Just look at our cell phones, cars, drive-thrus, gas stations, etc. Sony needs PS2 BC in the PS3 Slim to be truly successful.

The cooling looks debatable to me. They took a step back from the metal fins to a funnel-system. I'm not against that, but I would like to see some tests concerning temperature. Funnel systems are used in stuff like auto-cars, but it all depends on how it was designed. It looks like it's all funneled towards one direction. Mind you guys, the original cooling system was set up so that one powerful fan spreads the heat out from all-directions. Metal also is a much better conductive than plastic...

That's what I noticed right away. The PS3 is a pain to take apart because of the small parts. PS3 slim looks like it has a more streamlined hardware system. I'm very impressed by how they re-designed their PSU. Instead of shrinking it, they spread it out to avoid the power-brick. That's most impressive.

The BT/RF board looks like it's now integrated onto the mainboard itself.

This is my favorite picture in that article =)

Part of me doesn't like the new "rebranding". It's an insult to Kutagari. Like Sony is now systematically removing his legacies. First the new logo, then the Slim PS3, then the boot-screen?

:(

A "LAN" is when computers are connected in a closed-network so that they can talk to each other remotely. The convenience of this is that I don't need a long wire connecting to the router/modem and thus more cables and messes. Also Hubs are cheaper than Routers all the time, every time. A "WAN" is what most computers today are hooked up: Multiple computers connected in an open-network at which the gateway manages the data and sends it out to the internet through various pr...

I really would repsect any developer that can pull off split-screen co-op as fun as Halo, but all 4 players are on the same screen. 4 Player split-screen co-op is where the real fun is.

I hope everyone realizes that Destructoid is against boycotting Shadow Complex. But I doubt most N4G'ers can even read past the 6th Grade Level and suffer from extreme cases of A.D.D.

I disagree Ziriux. Just watch one of the vidocs on Halo 3 ODST, and you'll realize that this is what Halo 3 should've been. Also, you underestimate Bungie way too much. Just let them do their work and let their games do the talking and walking.

There's something about real women that CG women can't ever achieve. Sure the hotness of CG women are there, what with big-ass and tits here and there. But there's something I like about real women. They can have small-tits, but there's just something I like about that. It makes them more human, more desirable. I can't like any CG women from games like Dead or Alive, or Soul Calibur. However Faith from Mirror's Edge is very attractive. The more reaistic women are, I tend to like those kinds b...
