All he's saying is that there really is no ultimate platform.
The PC lacks things on consoles and consoles lack things from the PC. It's as simple as that.
If you think you're going to convert anyone here, you're fighting a losing battle.
I know you're gonna disagree with this, but one thing:
You PC guys talk about console problems to no end, but do you ever point out flaws on the PC? I haven't seen that many.
PCs and consoles ar...
Maybe it's because the current gen versions will be extremely superior to last gen. The PS3 and 360 versions will be severely worse, meaning most people will want to get the next-gen versions.
Wow, this again?
PCs and consoles are two completely different things. They are not on the same footing. It's pointless trying to compare them.
That being said, I don't get the hate with consoles.
If the textures aren't godlike, the game looks terrible. If the game is not 60fps, it's unplayable. If it's not 4k (how many people own a 4K monitor/TV anyway?), the quality looks like garbage.
Then people wonder why devs are so focused on...
@MiloGarret, I'm being serious.
Letterbox is the best word. The resolution The Order is in is what people would call cinematic 1080p.
inFamous is an open world game without a letterbox and is 1080p native.
Not this again... how are you going to make a small phone/tablet obliterate the PS4/XBO. Because all I can think of is quantum physics. You can only make chips and processors so small before they fry like chicken.
You're kidding me.
People love blaming it on everyone else these days.
I'm not a parent, but I think it'd be a good idea to show this article to your neighbour.
It's one game. 64 players, 60fps, destruction, the whole seven eleven.
If you wanted it to be playing the game at ultra settings at 1080p @ 60fps, the PS4 would've cost $900+.
Sony is just being classy. No need to get angry about that.
The PS4 is a powerful console as it is. That's the BF4 is the only game that's not running at native 1080p, along with the Order because of the black bars.
MisterXMedia is a joke.
He grasps at the thinnest straws to keep his delusions alive.
I've never seen so much bullshit in one article.
The people that actually believe him is what alarms me the most.
PCs and consoles are two different things. It's pointless trying to compare them. But to address Nvidia's statement:
'PC far superior to next-gen consoles'
2 things.
1. Not any old PC. Like you said, they're not equally built.
2. They can be, yet the next gen consoles will still sell MUCH better than any of your graphics cards.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the PS4 and XBO only. Everyone knows the PC version is going to be superior-if you have the specs for it.
Also, what do you mean by DRM free? The PS4 is DRM free. Not to mention if you get the game off Steam, it has DRM?
5-6 years is perfect. It gives time for a lot of new things become mainstream standards, such as 4K TVs and let's Sony and MS keep up with the tech at an even better pace.
I think 5-6 years is perfect. It gives time for 4K to be a standard.
The PS4 will still have loads of support by that time (look at the PS3), but the PS5 could run the same games at 4K and even better.
I think they should also continue the X86 architecture, to make backwards compatibility that much easier.
I'm thankful for the internet! N4G FTW!
Well, that's what happens with every console. Launch games don't display the full power of the console. While I don't like the XBO, I will say that good looking games will come out of the system... that being said, it cannot outperform the PS4.
Are you serious? Wow! This is hilarious!
I can guarantee you, if this game was in 1080p, they would not shut up about it. They would have Usher perform for a celebration!
EDIT: Whew, I read the article and it's a misleading title. Spencer said that they put it at 900p because that's where the game would look best and run the smoothest.
Very interesting... I hope they really put there all into this one.
Me and a LOT of other people.
I really can't see this taking off in the mainstream market. It really is just a PC to fit underneath your TV.
Not saying it's gonna flop, but it's not gonna be a hit or knock the XBO or PS4 out. SteamOS is a fairly good idea, gives PC gamers an alternative to windows. But the Steam Machines? Not feelin' them.
You make it sound as if Xbox fans didn't jump on the PS4's failure rate like a cat on a mouse.
Sorry, but this isn't anything to just look over. Dedicated is right. There are many noticeable issues.
Exactly. Launch games are rushed, un-optimized and cross gen. They're not going to show off the full capabilities of any console.
But even then, to wish for 1080p/60fps for all games throughout the whole gen is wishing for a very high price tag. I don't think this gen will be longer than 6 or 7 years.
1080p vs 720p is a big difference, that's what we're getting at launch.
Yes, the XBO's performance will get better, but so will the PS4's. The difference will become clearer and clearer. It's just a matter of time.
