Some of those challenges are just brutal, others are just a trial in patience.
As a Suikoden fan, I'm not sure about this game. Since my favorites are 1, 2, and 5 (surprise surprise, I'm one of those "old" fans) I'm not liking how every single thing I hated from the two other games are making their way back in this one. The map system from 3, the tiny towns from 3, the 4-character parties from 4...
Let's hope they don't change too much and make it completely foreign to even the most casual of Suikoden fans.
Ah yes, the days where IE started loading things way faster than Netscape... What a wondrous day that was... until IE got just as bloated and didn't keep up with web standards.
Firefox then became the leader. Now that Chrome's out, I hope it'll push Firefox to be better, but I don't expect much of a change until Fx 3.5 comes out with TraceMonkey enabled.
Good to see this is at least one port I can look forward to grabbing.
Preorder's already done.
Those are flash animation characters that look almost exactly like Zero (Mega Man Zero) and the Elec Ground Style Mega Man (Mega Man Battle Network).
I'm not exactly impressed. There have been many a keyboard adapter homebrew for the PSP. This is just the newest one down the pipe.
I actually prefer the PS1 to the PS2 (but find it equal to SNES).
Why? Because PS1 is where a lot of series I liked became awesome, whereas their PS2 continuations failed to interest me on a comparable level. Star Ocean, Suikoden, Final Fantasy, Tales, Metal Gear Solid, Wild ARMs and Breath of Fire...
PS2 launched a lot of fun series, but the PS1 got far more playtime from me (still does.. My PS1 is still hooked up to my TV)
Well, I can officially kiss Monster Rancher goodbye, then...
It was a fun game up 'till 4, then EVO killed the franchise as a whole...
There hasn't been any confirmed release dates for any consoles in Japan yet. Judging from how the game looks, it's definitely a candidate for all three console platforms.
The arcade box is coming soon, but I forget when.
That's not necessarily true. They could give the sprites HD detail and make them flow far more easily on the screen.
Then again, that jump might destroy the charm of Disgaea. It would take some artistic prowess to keep things in the same style all the while upping the graphical detail.
Vandal Hearts 1 & 2 had their own separate charms. VH1 was far more strategic and punishing à-la Fire Emblem, whereas VH2 was more of a proof of concept when it came to simultaneous turned SRPGs.
In fact, I found myself planning out things twice as much when playing VH2 than VH1, especially due to the sometimes random nature of enemy movements in the same situations.
In fact, I'm sure a lot of people never knew that Konami announced Vandal Hearts DS a while...
In all honesty? The new artwork, while fitting in with the newer Anime titles, looks impossibly bland compared to the artwork previously seen in the franchise.
Suikoden was all about the beautiful environments, yes, but it was also about the beautiful characters as well.
I'd much rather see a more detailed version of Suikoden 5's artwork than this new look. Here's hoping they go back to it when they decide to make Suikoden 6.
@1.7
You're forgetting Final Fantasy XIII is PS3 exclusive in Japan.
Even if it weren't, its sales would be primarily on the PS3 first. The reason has been stated above already.
FFXIII won't boost the 360 in Japan, but IU and TLR might. Now all Microsoft needs is the next Persona or Shin Megami Tensei and they'll be set.
This is what happens when DLC goes wrong.
Sometimes DLC can be very right, like what happened with Burnout Paradise: A year's worth of updates coming, all of them should be free. They basically tripled the game's initial size as of right now.
They've already started in Japan, but I guess that's because they've been building a legal case for some time now.
Demanding the removal of a device based solely on one of its most prominent features is harder to back up that one might think, which might be why Nintendo waited so long.
Definitely going to do so.
Slowdown helped me take care of a few hairy situations, like floods of enemies running toward me because they carried over an entire scrolling section of a stage.
I'll play the unbugged game once I master the buggy one.
While I appreciate the effort, they're forgetting that the heavy restrictions on the quantum chip makes it very easy to disrupt any communications going anywhere. Instead of cracking the data, most attempts would simply disrupt all quantum secured communications and interrupt the transfer.
Not being able to transfer information is almost as bad as having it stolen...
I second this motion.
The Suikoden team hasn't been heard of since waaaaay back in 2005 when Suikoden 5 came out...
It's like an inverted Spiderman styled platformer. You have to jump onto the glowing plants to grab on, then you jump away from them to create a web and swing around to gain momentum to let go and fly upward toward other mid-air flowers (and enemies).
For such a simple game, it's hella hard and fun. I'm probably one of the few people who likes the music of the Pixeljunk games, so... This is a definite buy for me. Here's hoping it comes out on the 31st as promised!
Perhaps the economic situation this entire world is diving into is part of the reason why we're seeing such low numbers.
Perhaps the lack of large brand names on current-gen consoles on the market is the reason nothing sells over a million copies on launch day in Japan anymore.
Perhaps people just don't care for games when school years start up.
Perhaps.
