The majority of their steam users still own dated hardware and as long as this is the case. The source engine is here to stay.
Nah Valve is it's own company. EA is a close business partner with Valve. At one point there was talks about EA buying out Valve but that fell through. Valve goes to EA when they want a title ported on a console. For everything else Valve uses steam. Which they own and use to publish their own games

I sometimes enjoy Omegas posts because they always seem to piss off the SDF but come on bro. Natal seems nifty don't get me wrong. I like the direction it's headed in. But it's not enough to extend the life of a 2004 pc for 5 years.
If the ps3 and 360 really have 5-10 more years of life in them. Then come 2011, Gamings going to start getting really depressing. Mostly due to memory limitations on both systems. If that's the case then I'm gonna be playing mediocre pc ports...

other than consoles having to be hardware limited by its memory? 4gb has been the standard in ram for awhile now. Bf2 was one of the first games to really require 2gb of ram
