Left 4 Dead was not in development by Valve for 4 years. Turtle Rock Studios already had somewhat of a beta before they were purchased by Valve. When this move happened they spent around 2 years using Valve's resources to polish/reskin/retexture what they already had.
you can still find trailers of the old game on youtube.
"It will have a whole NEW arsenal of weapons, 6 NEW maps, 4 NEW characters."
And?
You act like that takes major resources and effort...

However what's really funny about what you said. They've done interviews already where they've promised NEW weapons, NEW characters, and NEW campaigns. This is what led the Valve community to believe it was going to be similar to TF2 on how content was released.
again JOY's exposed this guy as nothing more than an SDF zealot already. He's actually getting to be more annoying than HHG.
why would they announce an old game @ e3?
LOL wow the "ps3=2006 pc" comment seems to have struck a nerve with a certain bunch of fanboys.
How's it go again? It's funny because its true!!! lol
and ya I'll agree that the 360 is basically a 2004 pc. But if you don't know already I don't own a 360 so I really don't care how crappy it is.
I like this part
"The game's new official message boards are full of comments saying basically, "Valve's releasing a sequel too quickly for us; this should be a free content update for the original game.""
Noooo wrong. I frequent the steam forums. They are saying
"Wtf Valve, what about all the interviews you guys did saying you'd be adding new weapons, new characters, new infected, and new campaigns to vanilla L4D?...I'm not buyi...
crysis had potential. Major potential. Their track record for post launch support can be considered in no better term...Crappy
They need to work on their online modes quite a bit before they can be considered a major fps developer.
whats a pc game have to do with a pointless console war?
I agree there is grounds to worry a little if you think about it some.
You can bet other developers will be watching to see how successful this game is. If they find that they too can go the sports game route in other genres. The next couple of years is going to be very boring -_-
Just because you spread your cheeks willingly doesn't mean pc gamers will.
PC gamers unlike console gamers will remember what's promised to them. If that promise is broken, pc gamers unlike console gamers aren't afraid to speak up and attempt to do something about it.
"Left 4 Dead 2 is adding everything you would expect for a sequel"
Actually If you've followed Valve long enough. L4D2 is adding everything I'd expect from what l4d1 should be.
are we gonna get lolKillzowned again or what?
feb 27th was sposed to be the coming of christ remember?
I'd say the majority including me of those 10k people love the game. This is more of a gutcheck to Valve to not stray down the path of EA.
That's a good way of putting it. But I saw something in the steam forums that really made sense.
It's like a baker baking 1/2 a cake and selling it to a customer with a promise that he'll bake the other 1/2 sometime soon for free. When you go back to the bakery you go in to find the other half of your cake sitting on the window display with the price tag of a full cake on it. When you complain to the baker he tells you.
"Trust me, it's worth it!"
Take a look at the BF2 booster packs that were boycotted by the BF fanbase. Those are the definition of "Epic Fail". Even 2142 was boycotted by a few major bf communities. While it did do ok. The message got through as the next BF title came out on console only.
and I lol'd majorly @
"Valve has been going downhill for a couple of years now"
"They should start following the Activision model instead. "
what's that 1 game every year? Valve was built around the model of supporting their games for many years after its release, stating that for every content patch they put out. More people buy their games.
This is why they considered by many to be the best game developers in the world. The Activision business model revolves around exploiting the wallets of console gamers. Not because console gamers ...
Best of E3 racing game means it's going to be pretty entertaining in here.
I'm gonna go look up Bayonetta. Must be interesting if it beat out God of War III. Must have slipped under the radar for me =\
LOL wow. Never thought I'd see the day where something that EA said would be used as gospel. As a pc gamer I've NEVER seen anything put out by EA that's impressed me. We are talking about the platform where the sky is nearly the limit. Crysis for example can't run on consoles and was a beast to play at launch. but play a pc could nonetheless.
And no Crysis was not made by EA. Developed by Crytek published by EA. I loved Bf2 but that was made by the original DICE team who made 19...
well I sure as hell would hope that a web site called psxextreme would tell people that Sony won. To declare anyone else a winner would have been pretty sad.
Like I've said before. The difference between pc and console gamers is exactly this. Console gamers LOVE to spread their cheeks when these kinds of moves happen. PC gamers will always put up a fight even if it is a losing one.
It was a pc gaming Battlefield fan that spearheaded an effort to save the rear ends of console gamers when Battlefield:BC was announced by EA with exclusive guns that you would have had to pay for.
