It sucks. I’m sure it will sell well enough even so. I really hope intel hit up the competition in gpus cos AMD just aren’t cutting it.
Silly question really. Can a restaurant be great without good food?
A very solid looking product. I’m really glad to see handheld gaming coming back strong. The ‘smartphone games’ will kill handheld gaming predictions were wrong thankfully.
The trick with modern PC gaming is to think of a games release data as the open beta. Wait a few months after that to access the finished game and you generally have no issues at all by then. Plus the game is cheaper. Works really well for me at least as I don’t mind waiting.
For the moment it runs most new releases. I think series s has helped a lot there, devs have to make games that scale down to it and so that gives the deck a fighting chance.
It’s an amazing handheld, I absolutely love mine. Gets more game time than my oled switch, 4090 and Ps5 combined.
I’ve read so many fan boys on here saying that PS5 exclusives have the best graphics in gaming and that pc ports arent as good and I can only shake my head at the stupidity of the claim. If you actually compare a game on PC ultra on a 4090 with the PS5 version there is just no contest in visuals and performance, the PC version is clearly miles better. You pay premium prices for sure but you also get a premium experience.
I have a 4090. Tried overdrive. Honestly for my eyes the biggest impact was on performance. Between raytracing psycho and overdrive there isn’t a big jump visually and the compromises you have to make for it far outweighs the benefits. The relatively modest visual improvement is not worth putting up with heavier up scaling muddying the image or laggy DLSS3. That was my take anyway.
cant see how something that looks like this could even run on the current consoles without a big downgrade. I suspect this is running on a very expensive pc. Either way, future looks bright!
My 4090 rarely even turns its fans up...but this game is gonna make it cry.
Really liked the game despite the badly told main story. Brilliant destructible environments and the oldest house was an interesting setting to redeem things.
So true. So many games release as broken messes. I like to know what I’m buying up front these days and generally chose to wait until the thing is patched and actually finished before paying for it.
My 4090 does just fine at mowing down any game I throw at it. As it should for the price. Not sure where you got the idea that a top of the line gpu can’t do that. Surely people aren’t claiming console games come out perfect day one and only pc sees games that need patching
If you are satisfied with ‘just works’ the ps5 is great. If you want the best frame per dollar value the ps5 wins again.
But, if you want the best possible performance and graphics PC wins. If you want to be able to customise your games to the way you like them PC wins.
The best possible gaming experience is on PC as long as you are willing to pay a premium and put some effort to setting things up right.
I love mine, don't regret it one bit. Easily the best handheld I've ever had and I've owned them all. In fairness though, this is a enthusiast gamer only product. Not for younger kids or people who literally want no technical tinkering at all. Those groups are clearly better served by Switch.
I don’t agree with ‘make or break’ at all. Very sensationalist headline. It’s already pretty successful as it is. Not to say more big games wouldn’t help of course but hardly going to break the service if they aren’t there.
Hats off to Nintendo. I thought the switch would tank before it launched…shows what I know I guess!
There will always be annoying input lag no matter how much bandwidth. The image quality also invariably suffers due to compression. Even running on a well engineered fast home network I have issues streaming from a pc to my deck. Out and about on 5g the issues would be even worse. Also, lose network lose access to gaming.
These are just some of the reasons why I would always want my games running natively on the machine. Streaming only is not happening anytime in the n...
The deck is brilliant and I would encourage anyone on the fence about getting one to just go for it. I’ve got a huge memory card and have filled mine with over 100 games. A handheld that plays the huge steam indy library but also games like cyberpunk and uncharted. Brilliant.
Hope they add OLED screen and better battery next.
They look awkward but are absolutely fine to use. The deck is genuinely really comfortable to hold and use for long gaming sessions.
A proper handheld that runs games natively and does streaming would clearly have been much better.
Hope they make it less laggy than the existing PS remote play software. On my Steam Deck PC streaming looks sharper and is way less laggy than ps remote play from the PS5.
