Didn't Binary Domain sell poorly? Wouldn't know it from the comments here; a lot of people seem to really like it. Honestly, I had dismissed the game early on, and never looked back.
Perhaps I should give it a second chance.
Pretty much. They've got a golden opportunity here; I'd like to see them make the most of it.
Starhawk looks to be all kinds of awesome, too. Like what I've been hearing of the single player campaign with that one, and the beta was fun. Between that and Dust, it oughta be a good summer for sci-fi shooters.
I really think this one's got potential, but I wonder how well they're gonna do at the start. No download fee means pretty much everyone will probably give it a look, but if the game doesn't have much to offer at first, then they'll dismiss it and never give it another look.
EVE was kinda like that...it wasn't so hot to start out, then just kept getting better. I hope Dust starts out at a higher point, then goes up even more from there.
Kinda neat. The animations actually look pretty well realized, which is pretty unusual for a movie license game.
Rough score. But I'm still getting mileage out of Shank 2, so I'm okay with passing this one up.
Fabulous game. It deserves all the praise it gets.
It does seem really odd. I'd have to think that if they get the negative feedback that one would think would naturally follow, they'd change that. But the idea of jacking up the price for a version that includes all the missions seems equally scummy.
These publishers will eventually get it so that we'll have to pay extra for the same amount of content we used to be getting, if we let them.
I've always been curious about the first game, but none of the gameplay videos that I've watched for it ever seemed to hive with the game's praise. I'm curious about this one all the same. Liking what I'm hearing thusfar.
Ugh...Battletoads destroyed me back in the day.
Glad to hear about the mode. I don't think its a revelation or anything, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
That was really funny, actually. Good sign for Borderlands 2's humor?
Aye. Game marketing is wildly inconsistent. This one's going to get lost without proper attention, which is too bad.
Despite the problems, I'm still sort of excited to give this one a look. I really like that they tried something new with the combat.
I like what Tom Bissell had to say about this stuff:
"Those who do not believe video games are or ever will be art deserve nothing more goading or indulgent than a smile."
Ebert is uninformed, and he's out of his element. You could pick apart his arguments against games almost casually, but there really isn't any reason to give him the time of day.
Absolutely loving the Global Events mode. Doesn't look like I'll ever get a top-level score in it, but I'm managing to hold my own.
Also, Ski Free was awesome.
"too much waffle"? Is that an Aussie-ism?
I was considering this one, but I haven't seen anything in a review yet that made it really stand out to me, this review included. Maybe when the price drops significantly.
More or less the same for me. It's on my watch list, but it didn't spark quite enough interest to pull me away from Skyrim and the other games I'm working through. I'll get to it just a little later, but its encouraging to hear positive things about it.
Great details.
Couldn't be more pleased that they're borrowing from RDR. Great source material there. I hope that the game will have that same sense of freedom to explore a big, open, natural landscape.
I'd be down for a Native American assassin. I really wonder how the backstory would fit in with the rest of the assassin/templar canon?
The suicide/persuade mechanic seems to be the only thing that Syndicate does differently that could possibly explain that.
There are a few other violent death animations with some blood (IIRC, the minigun can tear people in half), but those aren't exactly uncommon in games, I don't remember anything else that hasn't already appeared in games that Australia allows.
The game is categorically less violent than GoW, that's for sure.
They'll serve milkshakes, candy, and...."spiders"? That some slang I'm not familiar with?
On a side note, I can't believe they're requiring a uplay registration to play the online beta. When I couldn't remember my password for it, I just gave up.
