I don't see how it could be a coincidence. That kind of story really has no place in the Uncharted universe.
Pretty neat tie-in if it is one.
This article makes no sense whatsoever. Because Valve announced other games to "distract" from Half-Life 3, that means Half-Life 3's going to get announced with a release date soon?
This is absurd speculation.
This article is a load of crap. If Uncharted 3 is worthy of nomination, then so is Gears of War 3.
Gears of War 3 Metacritic Score: 91 -- http://www.metacritic.com/g...
Uncharted 3 Metacritic Score: 92 -- http://www.metacritic.com/g...
Gears of War 3 ...
Co-sign. Uncharted 2 was amazing and worthy of GOTY awards and nominations. But the third title just fell flat for me. It doesn't grab you like the second.
If you think this is real, you're a moron.
You're aware that every Command & Conquer game except for the original and Red Alert (and their expansions) was released after Westwood was purchased by EA, correct?
It's all relative. If Call of Duty only sold a million copies, would you classify it as a disappointment? I would. Just like some of these games selling over a million is a disappointment, given the marketing behind them, the developers, etc.
Yup, exactly. I mean, the big "reveal" of the article is that it supposedly sold 1.5 million copies, and the article is saying 900,000 of those are bundled sales. But it won't say how it came to that estimate or anything else.
Being bundled with the console doesn't mean people wanted to buy your game, which is kind of the point of sales figures and why people care about them so much.
It's a shame, because it's a good game. But to say...
I'm not sure I believe the article's implication that Alan Wake sold better than initially thought. The retail copies sold are relatively low, and that's what everyone's been discussing.
The digital "sales" include bundled copies of Alan Wake, which means it includes people who bought a bundle not necessarily for Alan Wake itself. These supposedly accounted for the vast majority of Alan Wake's sales.
So, yeah, it didn't sell ...
Yup, exactly. Hell, they took the Blizzard name instead of Sierra/Vivendi because Blizzard was pretty much the only successful company or subsidiary of that massive merger (Activision just had name-recognition).
Then they got rid of all their under-performing licenses and have relied on World of Warcraft and Call of Duty since then (as well as Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero before they massacred those franchises, too).
So am I going to be the one to say it?
That's not a "yes or no" question, it's an "either/or" question.
Your comparison is utterly stupid. Comparing a game that has an experience most people buying it have already played to a brand new game is not a valid analogy.
Completely agreed. It's one of the worst designed levels in a big-budget game I've ever seen. How anyone can say anything to the contrary is beyond me.
Not a surprise it comes from Chick, though. That man's a professional troll.
They will almost surely not announce a new console in January. E3 is a better bet than CES, if that even occurs.
@StrongMan: Pretty sure I just did that in my post.
Halo is the biggest first-party franchise for Microsoft. It's their equivalent of Mario. They're doing everything they can do expand the franchise into new areas and provide new experiences (see: Halo Waypoint).
Call of Duty, meanwhile, has done almost nothing new since the first Modern Warfare title. Activision is seeing stiffer competition from titles that are actually moving gameplay forward, unli...
I don't even know where to begin with this comment.
Microsoft is promoting what sells. And what sells includes both Call of Duty and Halo. The difference is Call of Duty is released on an annual schedule, so of course they're going to promote things like the massive flow of map packs and the like that Activision release.
To say that Microsoft doesn't need Halo to succeed is, to put it bluntly, stupid. Microsoft needs Halo to succeed just like Nint...
Sorry, yesmynameissumo, you are also wrong as the Kinect has a built-in voice recognition system, even if it does not have a standalone CPU :

Adopt him?! I want his parents to adopt me so they can make me that room.
Seriously? Black Ops advanced Call of Duty (particularly the multiplayer) more than Modern Warfare 2 or 3 did. I would have agreed with your assessment of Treyarch prior to Black Ops, but they did a good job on that one.
There's no point in making an Epic announcement and a "Last of Us" announcement at Spike, though. If Epic was making "Last of Us", they wouldn't have stated they're making their own announcement.
