Yeah, every reviewer should just copy the metacritic score so they can remain "credible." I think this was more of a 4/10 game, but if someone happens to think it's one of the best out there, then so be it. I know I've heavily enjoyed a few games deemed to be mediocre.
Besides, the reviewer makes the point that it's a completely different experience on harder difficulties. If a game like No Man's Sky was able to be redeemed, why not this one? This...
It's been an outdated game for years, and wasn't exactly highly regarded by fans in the first place. If all they're willing to do is slightly the improve visuals, what's the point? The fact that it's a remaster doesn't excuse that it's pointless.
A remake doesn't necessarily have to change gameplay mechanics, Shadow of the Colossus being a good example. A remaster doesn't have to be limited to visual improvements, GTAV being a good case f...
Anything Fromsoftware makes is always up there. Dead Nation on the hardest difficulty and Helldivers both deserve a mention.
Not sure if those last two are on this list, but I'm sure as hell not clicking through all these pages to find out.
Microsoft will likely have the best hardware next generation. They're also certainly putting more effort into their first party lineup, especially for next gen. You'd have to be rather ignorant to not see that. Xbox will do just fine next gen.
"No gaemes" is a lie. They've had plenty of decent exclusives. Have the great ones been too few and far between? Yes. But with all the studios they recently bought, that will all change.
Microsoft are here to make money, not to compete in some made up contest. They don't need to beat Sony for Xbox to be successful.
Now that they're increasing their first party lineup, the fans have no reason to care that Xbox is ahead either. Especially if Xbox has the best next gen hardware, which Microsoft will look to make sure of.
The PS4 version will release later than the others, this article is about the game that's launching now. Nothing wrong with leaving out the PS4 tag here. Besides, it is an Xbox website, what do you expect?
But of course, PS4 fanboys see one thing out of line and they riot.
No one gets banned for using the term "Xbone", people get banned for being dickheads. Big difference.
Ah good, digital gifting is useful.
Well maybe Valve should consider making actual games again so Epic doesn't completely take over their business in a few years.
It would make far more sense for Delsin to be the actual beast. Kessler went back in time to train Cole to beat the beast, yet it was Kessler's actions going back in time that created it, therefore none of it should have happened in the first place. The only logical conclusion is that The beast has yet to be seen.
I'd be interested... But even as a massive fan of the first two, Second Son didn't impress me one bit. I wouldn't complain if Sucker Punch just mo...
I am in the minority with my opinion on TW3, you may like it more. It is fairly cheap these days on sale, so it still might be worth a shot. Just don't expect combat as good as Bloodborne's if you do get it.
Absolutely. And that's fine, it's all subjective. I probably only had four games I'd consider to be 10s before now, so it's just rare from me.
Personally, I think it's the first 10/10 game of the generation. It certainly deserves this award - it's technically a game only Rockstar was capable of making.
No, they got awarded for making the most immersive, and best looking game of the generation. That in an open world game, too. Find me a more impressive game in 2018 from a technology standpoint.
The HDR works just as intended. Some games choose to limit HDR to get a certain look. Either way, it's easily the best looking game of the generation, so far.
@mkis007 - "The story and game-play is a slog though."
And that's where I can't take these awards seriously sometimes. If Red Dead 2 gets panned for being slow paced, then why in the hell did Uncharted 4 win so many awards? It's story didn't even support the absurdly slow pace it had, whereas the gameplay and story complement each other other very well in Red Dead.
It needed to be slow paced, as it had to cover a story that took ...
In what way? To me it had the best production values, performances, story and world in a video game to date.
I don't care about being part of the majority, what a stupid reason to like a game. I usually don't make a fuss about game of the year awards, but Red Dead certainly deserved it this year.
Gameplay I won't argue with, though it's not a big margin at all considering they're too hard to compare in this regard. Lore and level design though? Certainly not, Red Dead has a terrific sense of history, and at the very least was on par lore wise. It also has the ...
Zelda was a minority choice, being a Switch exclusive. As people said, take Zelda out of the name and it wouldn't have been praised so highly.
I just think if one were to have a full on comparison between Red Dead and God of War, and compare all the different aspects such as gameplay, graphics, story, sound, overall production values etc, I think Red Dead would come out on top.
Games have more time to tell their stories, and have the chance to get the player involved. I'd argue they're better than films for storytelling potential.
