The sweet spot is 99 bucks, otherwise its aiming at some small hardcore base, maybe a million or two. Dont bet on watching movies on these things, as its sub HD resolution. The PS4 will have problems feeding two 720p streams. Also, You cant play this stuff for hours because of motion sickness. Its not wireless either. These things will become doorblocks once true 3d is available without special devices, but right there in the TV. Or maybe hololens.

Thing is, if this nx comes out in 2017 with those specs, then xbone and ps4 will be 4 years old, so ps5 and xtwo are already in the preproduction phase. When they come out, the NX will be far behind again.The Wii came out in an era when the ps2 was still a part of the market, but next time they pull this, the devs will have focused on ps4 style graphics and pipelines, so the nx will be too exotic again to be of interest.Nobody goes back two generations for a nintendo console.
But what about those nx customers who arent interested in the handheld ?
What would be the point in having three identical consoles ? How many Mario games can they make and sell ?
The Wii U came years after the xbox 360 or PS3 and only can cope with them. Nintendo could have made a console in the vain of the PS4, but they didnt, and so they will probably just cope with the current gen, powerwise.Also, graphicswise, the NX wont be like the jump from Wii to Wii U, it will be less dramatic.
True. Unless You consider the Nintendo DS, DS lite, 3DS and 3DS XL, which are combined beyond 200 millions or so. Also, its actually the others who would have to adapt, as Nintendo brings the innovations: motion controls, dual screens, gamepad, glassesfree 3D...whats the PS4s innovation ? Ah, right, CPU power.
That 4k streaming is very welcome, I just got a UHD TV for xmas :D Bring on Netflix and Prime...but since I am in europe, I dunno if it`ll be available here on the NX.

I think what bothers me most with todays AAA studios is that, once they found their niche and formula, they dont leave it anymore. Piranha releases RPG after RPG, they cover their costs, but never stand out (like Cyanide's games, too). Thats like a band who rereleases their best of year after year and never leaves the comfort zone. Where is the creativity ? Where is the new ideas ? I couldnt imagine developing the basically same thing for 20 years and never make it really good.
I love the art direction, the public events, the Taken King story missions, the multiplayer. What it seriously lacks is more story(missions) and more interaction with the game world.
