I disagree. It's a bit of a mind!@#$, but there is a great story in there. Plus they did something I've never seen done in a game before, they incorporate the gameplay into the narrative, heavily. I am a sucker for creativity.
I get it, which is why I finish very few open world games. If it has a good story, I'll play longer, but eventually all of the busywork and fluff wear me out. I have both Switch and PS5, and Jrpgs are my favorite genre. Sony first party titles are becoming the best looking PC games available. Long after the console releases, but hey, PC exclusive gamers get to experience them too now. And considering the quality of the first party titles, I can see a fair amount of PC gamers deciding that they won't want to wait years, and picking up a playstation for this reason.
Seems like a pretty smart business strategy. Release a game on Playstation, everyone that owns one or doesn't want to wait years to play it, plays it. A few years down the road, anyone else that maybe wasn't interested or didn't own a playstation, or doesn't game on consoles, they get a shot at it as well. Xbox's lack of quality first party titles is what ended Xbox. Playstation games releasing years afterwards on PC, I doubt will have any effect on their console.
