For certain audiences, campaign length doesn't matter but quality does. You won't know how your potential fanbase will react.
Duke laughs at your sanctions.
Can't believe the author didn't mention the infamous G.O.D. lot when mentioning Duke and women.
In the 90s Prey was in development at 3D Realms but they eventually sent it off to Human Head to finish development so that explains the "Duke" element.
Just Cause 2, Deus Ex, and maybe even Dungeon Siege 3 were all products of Eidos that Square Enix picked up. The main reason they bought Eidos was as a result of breaking into the mainstream western market, something they couldn't do alone without help.
Don't bother, this is the generation of gamers who think an 8 on MC is the definition of crap and that anything below it is inferior as are the people who play them.
Kaos set out to make a gamers game, one with a good story (from what I'm hearing it's awesome), great multiplayer, dedicated servers, etc. They seem to have delivered on all fronts but it's not enough.
Now back to generic broken game #151561561561561.
They did advertise Alan Wake, they just didn't use traditional means to do so.
I bet the same people who bash Alan Wake's marketing campaign are the same people who rage on people like Ebert for not respecting games.
Bill Gates is still chairman of Microsoft and I think on the BOD's as well so he still has some influence over day to day operations but not as much as he did as CEO.
The Wii has had some great titles, heck, 2010 alone was a great year for Wii exclusives. Not all of them have sold great which is unfortunate, while the Wii might not be on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360 in specs, that's not to say the console hasn't had good experiences either.
fucadastates: Does Chart Track give out actual numbers? I thought they only ranked sales.
Frontlines servers were pretty good so there is a chance the game might work well online.
Because if they don't, everyone will just run with it as fact.
The $1.2 million figure was always suspicious since only one site reported it originally and they didn't cite a source either. Unless they manually counted forum posts and such I don't know where they got that number from and their post doesn't give very many details.

If you can't understand that people can have different opinions about a game and will continue on your crusa...
"Personally I thought"...
Ironic how you are attacking the opinions of multiple employees at IGN for their differing opinions and then go on a rant about your own views on the game even prefacing them as such.
It's just an opinion, if you like the game that's fine, if you don't then that's not bad either. The world is full of different opinions, not everyone likes or dislikes the same things in life.
Yes but the money that Microsoft gains as a result of you buying points is gone, they further lose out by having to pay developers out of pocket in terms of royalties.
Try justifying it however you want, but it's basically just a more direct form of piracy.
It's not so much the single points that are the problem but the fact that quite a few people used it multiple times, I think some were even boasting about having enough for X content as a result of stacking them.

Kinect has been out for a while now, why would retailers still be in the wait and see phase? They should have the figures they need by now to get rough estimates of how much stock they should order based on local demand.
What do you mean? Games like Gun Stringer, Sesame Street (if you have kids), etc were announced and look pretty cool. Can't count out those Japan titles announced a few months ago either.
If you're a gamer, Kinect and Move selling well will only compel developers to do cool/unique things with the devices.
Everyone wins, never a miscommu...oh wait...
Yes infact I do, vanilla essentially means "out of the box" in programming. If the game has an optional install than just booting it up without doing the install is technically "vanilla".
If the game has a mandatory install you do but if it's optional than it's your choice. For some games like GT5 it's worthwhile to install than go in vanilla.
I can see how people can interpret such actions as negative but it's also a way for the community to get together and help. Those who might not be able to donate money directly either for financial reasons or something else have the opportunity to help by clicking links, liking, tweeting, etc.
Further, such programs can encourage others to donate money on their own through awareness.
It's a double edged sword in a sense, there are valid arguments ...
