Don't know about Sony but Microsoft gives to charities throughout the world, they even send consoles, games, etc to soldiers stationed throughout the world.

It seems N4G knows nothing about expenses or running a business.

Activision might make $1 billion per quarter but a good chunk of that goes to paying off development costs, marketing, salaries, etc. In there recent quarter, didn't they only have $50 million left over after expenses were deducted from revenues?

Further, Activision donates to veterans every now and then, they even offer returning veterans JOBS within Activision.

A gaming representative is keeping up to date about what's being said about his company's products? Shocker!

By visiting VG Chartz you are automatically a fanboy? Shocker *2!

OT: If someone like Greenberg is essentially bashing those figures it really hurts VG Chartz's credibility, wonder how they will respond.

They weren't doing much better under Batista, infact, Cuba was essentially in turmoil since the US occupation of the 1800s. No political leader before Batista was even able to complete an entire term in office, some were only in office for a few weeks before being overthrown.

Under Castro, they seem to have been pretty stable and perhaps even prosperous to a certain extent. Tough to know 100% with the embargo and the impact it has had on the nation.

If I had a dollar for every time someone said Freedom of Speech allowed you to say anything you wanted with no recourse I'd be rich!

Look into the Miller test, libel laws, etc. Or, read this.

Uh no, there was a dispute with Nvidia over the chipsets used to make the Xbox GPU IIRC. I believe the specifics were Microsoft negotiated a contract on the chipsets which expired in 2004 and renewing it would have cost far too much money since Nvidia had officially discontinued them or something to that extent.

I believe this is one of the reasons why they were more "hands on" with the creation of the 360 chipsets.

I think they mean just for the time being, according to analyst reports, Microsoft should recoup their Xbox related debt in a few years as a result of the 360 and Xbox Live's growth. It would be stupid of Microsoft to just quite there when they would have an increased chance at profitability in the future.

Not sure if Microsoft actually does that but Credit Cards and collectors aren't that far fetched, most credit card companies will send your file to a collections agency if you miss a payment by even a few cents.

Dark Void isn't that bad, I picked it up for 800 MP via the GFWL store when it was on sale a few months back (which on PC is like $7-8 or something?) and asides from a few issues it's not a bad game at all. At most I'd pay between $20-30 for it.

Why? Like it or not but Call of Duty selling millions each year is only good for the industry as a whole. The industry grows financially on a number of levels, it makes the industry seem mature and not a "kids toy" like market, etc.

Various companies see Call of Duty and try to put out competing products. Some are decent and some aren't, it's only spurring innovation, imitation, etc.

On top of that, the Call of Duty games might be ridicu...

Sorry but those who know Yu Suzuki know how epic his visions are. Shenmue and Shenmue II were the most realistic games of their time and still on par with many titles today. They touched on subjects that were a big deal for Japanese and Asian society as a whole in the 80s.

Very few games have as much dedication and attention to detail as Shenmue. How many developers are willing to create individual clay models for every single character in the game, including NPC's just...

Where the heck do people hear these kind of things? Shenmue was made by Yu Suzuki's studio, AM2. They only work on Suzuki's IP's (After Burner, Virtua Fighter, etc).

Yakuza was made by AM4 IIRC and completely different producers, writer, etc.

I'm sure it must have sold a bit more than 20k but that could have been all they needed to turn a profit on the game.

Jap was a term used by the Allies in World War 2 to describe the Japanese in a derogatory way, similar to calling a German Kraut.

It won't offend everyone, but it will offend some, especially the war generation be they Japanese, Japanese American, etc.

I don't think it will "go away", Call of Duty 4 is still a pretty popular game on XBL, heck, even Call of Duty 3 has a fanbase!

I'm sure Call of Duty 2 might have a small community left over too.

Wtf, six disagrees for quoting a source where has others provide none and get acclaimed?

N4G is on a downwards spiral, agree/disagree abuse, bubble abuse, you name it. Trolling is bad enough, everything else combining together is a disaster.

Yes but unless Sony also includes Xbox 360 and Wii sales figures I don't understand how people can say it's outselling in Europe.

The only regions we do have solid figures are Japan and until a few weeks ago, USA.

That makes no sense, Sony has nothing similar to Indie games on PSN, maybe Minis but it's not as developed as XNA is.

The benefits to using the XNA toolset (which is what XBLIG use) is you can easily deploy your game across multiple systems that are compatible with the library. That means you can make an Xbox 360 game and easily port it to the PC, Zune, Windows Mobile, etc.

And Indie devs already get a better royalty rate (70-30%) than XBLA developers...

Where the heck are people getting European sales figures from? I've been asking for them every time someone brings it up since the ones I look at (on Chart Track for software at least) don't have numbers.

No one responds...
