You're right, it's not like Itagaki's team didn't make great games that reviewed great, were loved by fans and gamers, and sold really well to boot. No one ever talks about how much they love Ninja Gaiden [Xbox] or Dead or Alive [any].

What happens if the console business begins to slump for them and they begin to run short on cash. They wouldn't have any other industry to subsidize that division a bit further for a hopeful turn around. Even SEGA had IT and Middleware divisions to help fund their consoles via CSK.
Steam has been doing this forever, all games automatically go through Steam's DRM, if the game has any DRM on it that stays as well, CD keys stay intact too. I think EA is the only company who made an exception on Spore when it hit Steam.
Something I like about Games for Windows Live and Impulse is that they tell you if the game has any DRM on it and there isn't any "default" DRM added via the client such as server side authentication for each play.
On the latest OXM Podcast they actually brought up Halo Wars 2 with Microsoft's Phil Spencer I believe.
I forgot what they said specifically about it but that if Halo Wars 2 was made they would attempt to broaden the appeal. Halo Wars was a great game with a fantastic storyline behind it, the game sold well too.

The older Fallout games were about their dark humor, this would essentially be a return to form.
Black Isle isn't working on the game, infact, Black Isle was closed years ago. That was likely Project Van Buren which was what Fallout 3 was going to look/play/be before the studio was closed and the rights bought by Bethesda.
It'll be running on Masthead's internal engine so it might not be as buggy as Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Bethesda isn't making this, Interplay is with the help of some of the lead Fallout 1/Tactics folks.
Please check your facts, gaming was pretty popular and mainstream before the crash occurred among the baby boomer generation. They didn't want to spit on anything, they simply lost interest when games became crap and very few bothered going back after the recovery.
Going back even further, pinball, arcades, etc are of their generation or in the case of pinball, centuries back.

Why didn't they show any "gameplay" aka how those moves are pulled off? If you actually have to do kicks and stuff like that in front of Kinect that would be kind of cool I guess but I'm sure 99.9% of gamers would fail at most of them, myself included.
