Yeah, I know they don't make but a fraction of their revenue from PC but somehow PC games are "usually" cheaper to buy and look better on top of it. Granted most PC games aren't on new generation engines either but the same sort of logic should apply.

If THQ does go under, I'm sure many of their IPs would end up for sale and Ubisoft IMO would be one of the better companies I'd want to pick them up. Granted I don't want to see THQ fall but Ubisoft just seems a better "fit" for many of its titles.

Company of Heroes, Darksiders, Metro, and Warhammer 40k (especially strategy) are all great IPs that I've enjoyed every time. Then of course there are Saint's Row (which needs a more mature approach ...

Even with all the changes, Crysis 2's single player is still better than 90% of FPSers out there (and that's being kind towards other shooters). I was disappointed with the severe changes compared to 1 but I still enjoyed it for what it was. I'm really looking forward to 3 as its supposed to be a bit more of a mix instead of one or the other (hoping leaning towards 1 but from few videos its still largely a mystery and have some doubts--think Ill enjoy it but not sure of design). ...

It never took long for me either, but it was still annoying as wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was at launch. Normal playing wasn't an issue just if you quick turned too fast ;). I'm easily distracted though even if very forgiving.

Agreed. I enjoyed all of the Crysis games even if for different reasons. Was I disappointed in 2's more severe design changes? Of course, but I still had fun and am looking forward to 3 as its supposed to be a little bit more of a mix of the two than one or the other. Granted I won't know for sure but the videos look great and Crytek does make solid shooters, even with the major changes from 1 to 2.

I'm curious where they're going to take the franchise th...

True, got it for PC here and it was abut distracting at times (wide open areas and quick turns). Still, it is a lot better now than at launch but might also be due to my upgraded PC so not sure.

Yeah. it's best to let 360 ride out the holiday season for now. Plus if there is a built in or bundled kinect in all new ones (rumor which seems plausible) they could lose any kinect sales they might have got (which probably won't be anywhere near as high as last year anyways).

As stated, "hype" for next gen consoles at this point isn't really a requirement. Between rumors and developer/player comments the market already has a demand and is looking forward to their release, let alone an announcement (not everyone but it is substantial). 6 months (around E3) is plenty of time for advertising campaigns to get the word out for a '13 release and as long as the games are there gamers will leap at the chance for it (again not all but more than enough)...

There is a huge difference between last year and this one though when it comes to announced games (especially for 360) which is why many believe the 360 for sure will be released next year. After Judgement there is no "big" exclusive even announced (not counting xbla). There is always at least something known to be in the pipeline by now to look forward to.

VGA is coming up though and MS might surprise us with a 2013 lineup as they usually have something to show a...

I don't understand all the disagrees unless its over the word "hit" instead of "leader". I love Sony products but truth is their diversity is doing damage ATM as other competing products are controlling the market right now (compared to past markets) Doesn't mean their products are necessarily bad but loss of sales is never a good thing for a business especially if it exists on several fronts.

I wouldn't be surprised if it hit 5-6 by the end of the month alone. You have to think if they sold 3m in one day it'll likely hit 4-5 first week as although first day sales are huge there are always others that wait for one reason (check, weekend, etc). Then of course there are those in no rush (namely parents that didn't rush out already) as they will be purchasing for Christmas presents so 6-8 is likely projection for end of the year alone.

"Obama Wins Presidency!"

Real Winner: Washington State as its legislation to legalize recreational use of marijuiana passed the same day. I wonder how many people are going to move there now? ;)

Sad truth is its likely to create a larger ripple in the long run than who we elected President as its still technically 'illegal' due to Federal Law. I'm curious what other states are going to do the same (I know Colorado is working on it but...

Its still coming in, but technically when LordMe posted he was 'right' at the time regarding popular vote. Very close election though once again (in regards to popular vote).

Definitely not good news as they saw a loss but the majority of that period isn't known for a lot of 'great' games so it isn't too much of a surprise (plus its the usual time publishers do see a loss so its to be expected).

As they said they expect a big Q3 as Assassin's Creed alone should bring in a huge profit to offset that loss and to top that off existing hardware will still see Farcry 3 for Q3 which I'm unsure if it'll match AC's sales bu...

I think Tenchu is in some ways the grandfather of Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham Asylum/City. The core mechanics are similar anyways as its a mix of stealth, action and exploration.

I'd love to see a new Tenchu at some point especially if it incorporate a more open world design now that technology allows for it. Think about it, Assassin's Creed's historical portions would fit almost perfectly for a Tenchu game. Just think of the possibilities of explori...

All of the big new engines like to spout out "scalability" so it shouldn't be too much of a worry. Most, if not all, also seem to be finally mentioning dx11 and tessellation as well so I have high hopes that it could finally become a focus next gen.

There's always hope anyways as its a "simple" but substantial toggled difference in tech demos.

4885d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, I love all the tech demos shown over the years and in all that time only a handful of actual games seem to have it available. DX11 is doing better than 10 but its still barely supported.

4885d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

The main thing that keeps my hopes up after hearing this is that more and more new engines are very scalable. Battlefield 3 for example is a great one as there is a huge difference in visuals, player count, etc between consoles and PC. Next gen machines should be capable of or near that level (or so I hope) and with even more scalable next gen engines it should only get better.

The main worry is that pc progression will slow...

A bit disappointing but not totally unexpected--depending on just what type of tech the next gen will allow it might not be as bad as I fear though.

If for example the rumor of dx11 is possible on next gen hardware is true then tessellation might just take off and be a huge difference between this and next gen's games (and more so for pc). Unigine's heaven tech demo from years ago for example is a great testament for the power of tessellation that has yet to be reali...
