As Kur0 said, most games really don't use much ram at all and those that require more than 2 (for game alone that is) are almost always due to giving background programs and OS plenty of free memory.

The main reason Durango is likely to have so much is due to rumor its based on a Windows 8 version OS and likely to have Smartglass, Kinect, and social/app heavy support out of the box. With more things demanding system resources all at once they would have to leave even mor...

With latest rumor about Durango having similar specs (just a couple days ago) it makes it even more feasible to me that these are at least "close" to final design specs (for one of them at least). It sounds like the differences are going to be pretty minor again in long run and really come down to what devs can do with the hardware.

Going with this gen as an example, I have better faith in Sony but as most of MS studios/IPs haven't even been touched in years ma...

Great idea--I love having this option on PC. Preordering is a huge business and I bet it would be a very well received feature for next gen consoles as well. It might not start off huge as it is on PC today but would still be well received by those that choose downloading games over physical copies.

Sounds very reasonable but I still want to see it in action more than knowing what specs are. As everyone agrees, specs are only a part of it as dedicating gaming platform allows for better optimization, therefore better quality/graphics than equalivent PC hardware. Still, it doesn't sound bad at all (still not a fan of slower cpu clock speeds even if in long run could pay off with better multithreaded support). I wasn't really expecting top tier PC hardware anyways and game develo...

Personally I'm not a fan of motion control but if rumor is true and all 720s do have Kinect 2.0 I don't see the harm in it. I'd rather that developers that choose to support it support it well and make decent/good games than just use it 'because its there'. I doubt every developer will want to use it much like today as they know many, many hardcore fans that buy the 5-10 million copy games still love traditional controllers and don't want to screw with that much pote...

I remember watching and listening for details on Wardevil for so long after announced ;(

Good list--I think MS's biggest failure by far was lack of exclusives and its not like they don't have some nice IPs to draw from. Instead though they went with too many new, overly casual Kinect titles since it was introduced. That and several of their new IPs changed developers or they shut down the developer completely (Crackdown and Halo Wars for example).

I would really like to see a new Halo Wars personally as it was the best console rts I can remember playing...

I may not be a huge fan of Cyberpunk or even familiar with more than a hand full of examples of the genre but I was pretty sure this was going to have guns in it the moment it was announced.

In fact by the looks if it, the video is pretty much exactly what I was expecting although I'd still rather have had it been in game. I can't say I'm hyped up but I'm definitely intrigued and am looking forward to seeing more and am hoping for the best.

I...

Good list, but nothing new to anyone that pays even marginal attention to upcoming games.

Just proves how good we'll have it over the next 6 months (most being 1-3 months) and still so many not mentioned.

Not a huge cyberpunk fan, but if done right can be great--so I agreed as CDProject is doing it ;) I'm looking forward to the trailer though as should decide for me right then just how much I'll want it, as long as in game anyways.

Disagreed on accident...

I agree with the whole list from the article as well as your Skyrim comparison. The work modders have put into it is superb and really does make the game look next-gen. Add Enb and it looks infinitely better though as adds much that the original engine lacked.

I can't remember exactly what mods I use (not at home) but some of the 2-4k textures are pretty insane--I actually use an 8k rock texture. Some of the new character text...

Unless you have it on PS3, I can't take you seriously and even then if its "dlc nobody wants" then PS3 users (like yourself anyways) have no say as it doesn't effect you. If however you aren't talking out of your arse and actually want the dlc then sorry--take it up with Bethesda and Sony as they somehow got it to work on 360 and PC both.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the PC release of this dlc and any future dlc/expansions as even though Skyri...

Just to point this out: a couple PC games do suggest 8gb ram now for max settings. I know Far Cry 3 for high performance does and if I remember right something else next year does as well (can't find the game ATM but it was one I was looking forward to). Required? No, but still suggested ram is increasing.

I don't see any requiring or even suggesting 16gb any time soon though but 8 could be possible. I expect more PC games to begin with requirements of 4 once ne...

As much as I like the way the game sounds and looks (on its own), I am a little disappointed in the design change (especially the more we see of it). Its a little too 'clean' and colorful compared to original's darker, grimier/grittier look that suited the game and setting perfectly.

I still can't wait for Last Light and from the videos they're doing pretty well with trying to stick with the original setting but not sure if the art design change will be a...

With the advent of HD remakes/collections and much more scalable engines I have assumed a couple publishers at the very least will go this route at some point. The simple fact is, PC versions could easily be scaled to fit next gen specs for "easy" releases especially as rumors are the tech is more mainstream compared to, say, PS3's Cell.

I don't necessarily assume any particular game is being planned for it ATM but just saying I wouldn't be surprised. ...

I hope Metro's campaign is as good as the original's as the setting and atmosphere was incredible (especially for a FPS). I love the survival aspect of having to scrounge for ammo as well (plus its the game's cash).

It had its flaws but its still probably in my top 10 games (franchise for sure) of the generation simply due to its atmosphere. Definitely a sleeper hit as quite a few probably have never even heard of it and many, many more never touched it. Hope L...

Skyrim's next gen status is entirely dependant on mods. The difference between launch and today's heavily modded and enbed Skyrim is easily a full generation difference. Hopefully Bethesda uses a better engine though for their next game so its not up to modders to modernize their games.

Still, without them Skyrim of today wouldn't be possible ;)

@ PurpHetbison

Digital movement has been around for years--some simply adopted earlier than others. It pretty much began with iPods and other digital music devices but its now mainstream for nearly every medium it can be used with at this point.

Movies, games, tv, books and magazines, and of course music are all easily accessible over the Internet nowadays. I still prefer physical copies though in some cases (books especially--ereaders are great but not qui...

Metro is its biggest competition from what I've seen from the graphical side--plus I expect it to have a better story. Metro might had been a pain to run but it was a blast to play as the setting was superb.

Unfortunately that's PC gaming for you--can run perfect or not at all for some even with same or close specs due to different systems.

For those that experience problems, sorry as I know it sucks :(. Sometimes finding fixes are a pain and its why consoles have such a huge following.
