Pretty much, everything story wise I've seen intrigues me, and Crystal is a talented studio but the GAAS element and overall structure of this game worry me a lot.
Tembo is a decent platformer to play between or alongside a big AAA game but other than that it continues the trend of eh, for the last couple months.
Not excusing Nintendo on this whatsoever but this is the exact thing mobile gamers have supported willingly and allowed to happen for years. If mobile gamers didn't support garbage like this daily and let these predatory practices walk all over them they probably wouldn't exist in the gaming industry at all.
Publishers need to continue to be taken to task for this but ignorant mobile "gamers" need to as well for their idiotic spending and apathy to these ...
People were mad but it wasn't as prevalent last gen, publishers were less anti-consumer last gen overall.
However the "it was against my console last gen so now that's it for my console it's ok" argument does nothing for anyone, it only perpetuates the cycle and all consumers lose. Bringing up times when MS did it doesn't excuse Sony for doing it now
Yes we should be worried about the game, I mean CD's last game was only Witcher 3, one of the best games of this gen, and every single piece of footage has only looked incredible, and almost every single person who has played or seen behind closed doors demo has only said it's one of the most impressive demos they've ever seen....... /s
To make sure hype doesn't get out of control is one thing, to be "confused as to what exactly - the game is going to b...
Pay to win loot boxes and game modes with exclusivity periods literally outlasting the life cycle of the game...
Not sure everyone is quite doing that but ok...
Yup, you're right. Just in this comment section you'd get the idea that MS started every bad practice in the industry and that Sony is actually really smart for making deals like this. But if this were MS's deal they would be shredding them to pieces for it.
Until MS and PS gamers call it out no matter wether it's PS or MS doing it, it won't go away.
For all the hate it gets Advanced Warfare actually had a good system. You got cosmetics, and skins like normal. But you also got alternate versions guns, so you may get a version of a gun with faster firing rate but worse accuracy, or one with locked in attachments, or one that did more damage but had less accuracy. And without paying a cent you got tons of guns too.
It's been time to hold Activision accountable for half a decade or so by this point. But until the casual COD/Madden audience refuse to get walked all over with lootboxes, card packs, slot machines, and paid red dot sights it won't stop. It's completely on the consumer at this point, it those practices stopped making money they would stop being implemented, pretty simple.
@kohox
I love how the article is talking about holding Activision accountable but you immediately take to defending Sony lol.
And just because MS did it before doesn't mean it's ok for Sony to do it now. Pretty sure two wrongs don't make a right was taught in like kindergarten so.....
Not only that it's blatantly clear you would be jumping down MS throat if this was their deal right now, blind hypocrisy isn't reall...
People did complain and still do. But this site is massively pro-Sony so it either wasn't talked about or completely dismissed. I mean look at this article this site is so pro-Sony that people are literally defending Activision making a game mode exclusive for a year just because it's with Sony lol.
@kohox
"Being PlayStation exclusive made them special, now they are just another 3'rd party developer."
Lol ok. Hellblade was their best game so far and Enslaved while having faults was a good game as well. But then again it's pretty clear your comment isn't really about the quality of game is it?
@cochise313
And......does that have any bearing on how great the game was? Nope.
Not only that you're flat out incorrect. You might want to take like 2 minutes and check before you make a blatantly incorrect statement and prove you don't know what you're talking about. Hellblade sold well over 1 million copies and gained critical acclaim. Ninja Theory has stated they're very pleased with the sales and actually surprised it sold as well as...
Well, almost every GAAS service game released since Destiny has looked to replicate Destiny's grind, monetization, and dlc rollout to eventually complete the game. Instead of taking any interesting elements of Destiny that Bungie took from games like Borderlands and Halo.
Hellblade was fantastic but ok.
As someone who didn't play any of the Xbox 360 Gears games I always assumed the Gears games were just big dumb shooters with non-existent stories.
But I got into the series with Gears 4 and was pleasantly surprised at the story. It wasn't incredible, its not some award winning story but it was pretty good. And I enjoyed Gears 5 even a bit more, I thought there were a number of interesting and impactful moments. Again it's not gonna win narrative of the year or a...
The jump in graphics is one of those games that while playing it doesn't seem that big a jump but when you go back to Borderlands 2, especially if you go back to the 360 original version but even the remaster, you suddenly realize it's a larger upgrade than you thought.
They also had an extended DLC schedule for Borderlands 2 all of which were fantastic, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep the last large expansion was mid 2013 and they continued releasing smaller dlc til early 2014.
Also even though it ended up bombing they did release Battleborn in 2016. And then they released the Fight for Sanctuary, Borderlands 2 dlc leading into 3 for free. So to act like they did nothing for 8 years isn't really factual, regardless of your feel...
"third party filler control" lol ok.
And I enjoyed Gears 5 but I had way more trouble with Gears than I did Control. I only had two occasions of frame rate drops with Gears as opposed to a handful with Control but I had to restart checkpoints multiple times due to it not allowing me to open a door to progress and then I had to restart an entire act after the second comms tower broke, luckily for me it worked the second time, other have had to restart the entire game. I'...
Bethesda Game Studios has literally announced their next two games...
