Seriously, the burden of proof for Microsoft to take action is insanely high. They have a very specific set of rules. For example, if there is no record of you playing online, and you have all these online achievements... cheater. It's that simple.
I know so many people love the "Micro$oft ar teh evil corporashin" line, but why? Why would Microsoft ban this kid if it wasn't true? Do they get evil points or something?
It's quite telling that the mother was refereed to the legal department. That means she came in ranting and raving and claiming "AYM GONNA SEEW YEW" ("I'm going to sue you"). That's the standard response anytime someone threatens legal action.

I figure, I'll go to Best Buy, demo 3DS once, determine it works... woopty-doo... and pick up a PSP2. I'm already leaning in that direction. Now, it depends on what Sony says at their conference.
It always makes me wonder when a developer comes to the defense of something indefensible.

They have a formula that works, even if it doesn't work for you. The REAL question is whether or not the new franken-developer will be able to turn out a quality product on par with the previous iterations.
@GiggMan: Respectfully, I'll only get to try this if I see it in Best Buy. I've seen the current state of 3D and I don't think it's all that good. I did 3D nearly 5 years ago on my PC with shutter glasses, and the technology hasn't come very far. In fact, it hasn't moved a step. If I were to buy a 3DTV in the next 5 years, it would be one of Vizio's 22 inch passive 3D panels. I might be able to swallow THAT.

3DTV is a fad, or at least the promotion of 3D as being a TV seller. 3D is going to be one of those things that TVs just "have". Like an ethernet jack or a wireless RF remote. It's going to become a non-feature before long... and the average person will finally afford it.
At the same time, do you really want to play an FPS in 3D? Is there a setting for left- or right-sighted, or is the crosshair just going to float between your eyes and you just have to eyeb...
NFS doesn't need to be a "racing game", even the "Shift" sub-franchise. NFS works best as a moderately-over-the-top, street-racing, running from the cops, arcade action racer. I wish they would stop trying to legitimize it in the shadow of GT5 and just let it be itself.

I'm not sure what game everyone else is playing, but I enjoy it quite a bit, and I'm not even that good at it.
Is this just that systematic hatred of Activision, or do people have real gripes with the game?
As far as evergreen franchises go, I'm happy with getting a new COD every year.
@hennessey86: As much as I like XBL, it wasn't worth the $50 until the 360 came out. 360 gave Live a quantum leap in functionality, whereas Live on Xbox 1 was shallow: a friends list, the Arcade failure in its premature infancy, and online gaming on a console. Now, it's blown up.
Then, I'm sure you will swallow the truth that 360 and PS3 hardware both have roughly the same power.
If you really believe your premise, you have to believe my premise. Or else, you can get into the fluffy, fuzzy, feel-good difference that PSN gives you and ignore the actual differences that make XBL a better service. If you don't get past that bias, nothing I say will ever convince you otherwise.
