RDR2 sets the standard for immersive world building. BOTW sets the standard for a world that is truly 100% open and let's you do literally anything and everything in the game from the beginning. Horizon set the bar for open world combat though and I preferred TW3 to all of them hands down.
Best graphics are found in Horizon on the Pro hands down for me. RDR2 looks awesome though. GOW is up there with Horizon but nothing has melted my eyes like that game to this day. Blew me away.
Bungie should have never signed with Activision. Bethesda would have been a better choice.
Curious to see how it is. Probably just going to wait and buy the expansion next year (once all the seasons pass dlc is included).
Of we get solid expansions that aren't ridiculously priced this is great. Colour me skeptical until we actually see high quality expansions released though.
Except this game is fully optimized as a first person experience. RDR2 is mediocre at best from any perspective.
They said the sequel will have a larger budget (I believe), so I'm hopeful they deliver on the bosses!
God of war was nearly flawless (a few more unique bosses would have made it flawless for me). That's my game of the generation with the Witcher 3 and bloodbourne right behind it. I'm enjoying RDR2 finally but GOW should win.
The user reviews are still 75% positive, and the ridiculous 0/10s on meta critic are dragging the average down to an unfair degree. The controls and pacing issues (especially with lack of intuitive fast travel) shouldn't allow this game to score 10/10, I'd still argue it's a solid 8 or 9 though. The initial chapters are also a bit off putting but the game really shines if you get through them. I can't comprehend this winning GOTY over GOW though.
I really disliked it at first. I now can't put it down lol. It starts slow but once it starts to open up it is very good.
Face-palm all you like, but you are describing human greed when I am speaking to the potential of the platform (ie. Technology, infrastructure etc.).
I'm not saying this new diablo will be any better than all the other freemium mobile games. I'm saying mobile as a platform has potential, whether anyone admits it or not. What we need is a proper developer to step up and take the platform to the next level. Will it actually happen? I don't know. Is it possible? Obviously, thus there is "potential". There are some devs that aren't as greedy (ie. CDPR).
Man I can't believe the close mindedness lol. The potential? How about the fact that nearly everyone is walking around with very capable mobile gaming devices in their pockets, and with family plans you're whole family can have access to games you've purchased with a one time payment? If developers ever decide to make real full fledged gaming experiences for mobile with a premium purchase instead of using the garbage freemium model we see right now, it doesn't take a genius to...
Regardless, the potential is there. Seems everyone just wants mobile to fail. If developers get their acts together mobile could be great in the future.
Mobile could be awesome. The tec is there now where if developers break the freemium mobile mold and make real gaming experiences there is potential. With that said, they should have announced this in addition to a proper sequel on PC and consoles.
You nailed it. My thoughts exactly. I was super annoyed with these issues but was so excited to play through this game in first person that I'm going to give it another chance. Hopefully it picks up in act three.
I sold it after about ten hours. I pre-ordered it two years ago for $49.99, and sold it yesterday for $75. I wasn't enjoying it so I sold it for a profit luckily. If they improve the mechanics via patches I may give it another shot next year. It just felt like a chore. 9.5/10 as a simulation, far less as a game.
So you have to change you're clothes and horse, plus wear the bandana to protect your identity? See that's actually cool and more realistic, but it's a fine line between fun and tedious as well.
With all the detail they forgot to make you're bandana actually protect you're identity or allow for lockpicking (things that could actually enhance gameplay). Nailed the long horse commuting sessions and chores though.
RDR2=most realistic/immersive world
BOTW=most truly open world
Horizon=best open world combat and visuals
TW3=the best complete open world package
