the "WHY"-U you mean? :P
I have never personally seen a better looking overall game than that first unveiling of this (even as a PC owner) - on the fly through. It wasn't so much about specs as art direction and imagination, those glass covered buildings and the way the particles, lighting and colour choices were set up really had an impact. It looked jaw droppping, no other word for it.
It needs to have software coded for it, and needs 60fps per eye - Oculus have been coy about the consoles leaving it open to Sony/MS to approach but I can't see them having the power to drive it just yet.
Not only that but as said you can't just slap it on any game (like you can with 3D glasses) as it needs to be properly coded for VR and 'warped' properly to map to the display (which then unwarps it again). This would need to be done by each game dev not in a...
WRONG!
Not only is OR MY future, I will also be making games for it. Have waited years for something like this to make total immersion viable.
As for 'theatre like', that's not quite accurate and does the OR no justice. you are *IN* the game, pure and simple. No "X sized screen at X feet away" BS. IN the game. In fact you are so in the game that they will need a new word other than "game" to use, because game will be too lightweight for the feeling you...
Not quite, they'd need to leave a little at least for the CPU (not to mention the OS/Side processor).
He said PS3 anyway for some reason...
and PS4 is unified memory, so you could in theory have 6GB for GPU 1GB for CPU and 1 FOR OS/SIDE PROCESSOR... or a variation on that.
@ultr _ I don't care either way about the free MP, I just don't like online passes, is that OK with you? :)
Great Game! I wish Bioshock had felt more like this to play. I could spend hours sat in cover from a turret/gun and enjoy every second in SS2... weird.
I for one will be playing through KZ2 and KZ3 again this year in preparation for KZ:SF...
who's with me? :)
actually i do care what it looks like, as in I'd prefer it NOT look like a POS sat under my TV but I'm sure Sony won't let us down, even if it's an understated subtle affair that's fine. It really is the games that count (and the controller)
Is this like all the other site's previews that hype it up so you buy it then go on to slate it in the review? haha!
Definitely agree. I did finish 3 cos I like to finish all the uncharteds (as one of my favourite series on PS3), but it was so linear and focussed on set pieces vs 2 which was epic and beautiful to look at. It already looked 'next gen' at the end of 2 when you were fighting your way out of the tree place along those golden stone platforms (nice DOF there)...
3 was good, great in places (the ship in the rain, the water jetties etc) but far too much of it took control f...
AGREE!!!!!!! I played loads of UC2 MP but just didn't get into UC3 MP. Shame I used my online code to even activate it (then sold the game for less because of that).
The online pass was totally pointless if they are going to give it FREE to everyone now!? W*****S
Clive Barker's Undying. Creepy as **** back in the day.
BTW Little girls with sullen faces and long hair is such a cliché now. I laugh when I see them on movies 'trying' to scare me (Same goes for bedraggled women with what amounts to a bad mascara application + a loud noise). Zzzzzzz....
well *I* am interested and that's all that matters to me. iPhone can sod off.
I never mentioned console gamers? *I* am a console gamer and an intelligent adult thank you.
If that was sarcasm or an attempt to put words in my mouth I'm afraid it didn't work.
PC + PS3 gamer here and I'd buy any console that had exclusives on that I wanted to play.
My post was purely about developers blaming something that wasn't the problem to cover their asses while attempting to cash in like Epic did with gears of war (f...
Actually I think you are showing some of that blinkered, biased view too. You should try walking the centre line that you speak of and accept that no console now or a year from now can possibly 'surpass' what a PC is capable of from a technology standpoint.
However as a big PS3 fan and future PS4 owner, I realise that games and gameplay are really what matter and I am very much looking forward to getting my grubby mits on the new PS4 controller and getting stuck into ...
Plenty!
It's not even about raw specs, it's the breathing space the new console can allow devs. I imagine at first you'll see just prettier versions of PS3 type games until someone hits the supposed limit of PS4 but then pushes beyond with some tricks. While there are less 'tricks' on the PS4 to be found, due to a more standard hardware, the Ram and GPU upgrades esp will/should make a world of difference in game quality if devs know how to utilise it to i...
I'm a PC and PS3 player, and couldn't give a crap about Diablo III. In fact I almost glazed over at that point in the Sony presentation.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
BRING ON PS4. It's all about the games!!! :)
And for PC? Bring on the next gen GPUS (700/8000 series end of year) and Oculus Rift (virtual reality + games for it in 2014). THAT is what will eventually set the PC apart, the power needed to drive proper VR and actually get games...
Why I was unimpressed by this article: It was shit
