It's not even the love, it's the brain. That creative brain is so singular. He's like the David Byrne of videogames...lots of people are "inimitable" but he takes it to a whole new level.
It's so idiosyncratic and unique it's genuinely hard to imagine anyone OTHER than Kojima at the helm, even if they have the blueprint.
It'd be like rebooting a Tarantino movie but having someone else direct it. It would never be right.
We'll see about this remake.. MGS is such a sacred cow of videogames that there are so many ways they could screw it up.
RDR 2 was so far ahead of the rest of AAA gaming world it was ridiculous.
With the ridiculous amount of money and talent at their disposal, I have no doubt the game will absolutely blow peoples' minds on a technical level.
What I'm interested in is a mature, immersive world like GTA IV and RDR 2. I am very worried that the GTA Online offering will take too much priority over the single player.
That's ok, but it really ought to offer serious replayability if that's the case. Games are so expensive.
Sophy will answer our prayers when it is released. I hope we'll get full grids with it
It's difficult to get to use the new cars because the AI stink, meaning you need to play online to really push them and have fun.
And online is limited to one make races (usually) in Daily Race A, and then Gr3/Gr4 in Daily Race B/C .
I think they should add a Daily Race D that lets you use any car as long as it meets certain PP restrictions.... it seems such a shame to have such awesome tuning capabilties AND new cars being added, but for us actual h...
A huge shame given GTA was based on satirical, often crass humour.
I loved it in GTA IV in particular because it stood in juxtaposition to a very bleak world it was set in
Oct 2024 if I had to put money on it
Their dev cycle has become insanely slow....seriously, as of RDR 2 it literally takes them a decade to make ONE game.
Now, I would argue this leads to games which are simply stunning, so is likely needed. But I wish they could have at least a couple of games in the pipeline at once.
Jesus, just make a Midnight Club already. Not even for the money, just for the beauty of it!
A new Midnight Club with PSVR 2 would send the world crazy imo.
It goes beyond videogames imo. If you seriously want to race a car around tracks irl it's technically a bargain substitute
It's great without a wheel, I tried it with the motion controls and it's still a blast. I'd use that and then decide if you want to take the plunge into wheel setups. There's a lot to consider there, like space and stability etc.
It's the best thing I've ever done in a videogame. With a rig it's surreal.
I played through the remaster quite recently. It's not as good as I remember, but I think a lot of that is because the "open world" thing was still pretty fresh back then.
I do think there's a gap in the market for a game like Burnout. With the new gen they could really make car damage a huge selling point again.
GTA IV
The Last of Us 1
Gran Turismo 4
Metal Gear Solid 2 & 4
Uncharted 2
Super Mario 64
Gears of War 1
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
There might be others but those games are/were all extremely important to me.
It worked in Dishonored because that game was HEAVILY stylised so it gave off this gothic/industrial vibe. In their other titles it looks so soulless though.
Yeah, it's all well and good putting your hands up and admitting failure, but if you repeatedly make those same mistake you should probably stfu and leave the reflection piece to when you've actually decided to DO something about it.
Companies with sharheolder interest are simply myopic, they do not consider long term legacy. That is the big issue, they'll have short term boosted earnings from online revenues, but they'll feel the pain when people move onto a new fad
