I think what this unearths is that the directors with creative control are artistically bankrupt. Pretty much all major name studios are pretty much bereft of any true innovation like we had up until games became about "online services" with decisions hinged massively on stock prices and earnings reports.
The cracks were well and truly showing with Fallout 4 which, while a good game, was no longer anywhere near the top tier realm Bethesda may have once resided.
Bethesda are generally mass-market only, I don't think they'd bother allocating even a small team to do it.
I also believe they'd screw it up somehow.
Also... Personally speaking I don't think I'd like a Fallout 1/2 remake. Weirdly I find the visuals a very important part of the way it feels for those isometric games. Again, I think Bethesda would screw this up and ruin the aesthetic of the original games.
How does this actually happen? I assume someone in the inner circle at R* did it?
They're REALLY going heavy on social media and the whole hypey/hip hop ass-shaking thing.
I guess that is the defining element of the current era, it's just weird to see it distilled in a videogame trailer!
Oddly enough the most exciting part to me was that bodycam thing with the cops busting down a door. I would have loved playing a cop in GTA.
R* have always made their games look as good on release as the trailers.
RDR 2 people said the same thing and it looked stunning.
Although this...I don't know how they're achieving it, it's witchcraft.
I'm dying to see what it looks like. There will definitely be something we don't expect but have no idea what it will be.
Personally, I think two timelines (1970s and and 2020s) would be insane.
That is fantastic. I would love if they started adding weather/nighttime to Sport Mode races though, it's always boggled me that they haven't utilised it more in online races
N4G's userbase is heavily biased towards Sony/its involved parties. To the point where they will defend objectively bad moves by them.
Well at least the "fi" part applies to their reviews...
LOL!
What I'm worried about is that Xbox's complete inadequacy is letting Sony become a bit lazy.
Surprised it hasn't happened already tbh, Sony has been so absurdly far ahead of MS for years now.
This is the fundamental issue when games development is purely about product rather than art.
I don't think it will work out in the long-run, but holy shit it is already lasting way too long in the interim.
You miserable, selfish bastard. You don't have to like it or play it...just don't partake. Life isn't all about you and what you like.
I can't stand superhero movies, but I simply don't engage with them... I certainly wouldn't actively click on an article regarding one just to state my disdain for them.
Asshole move...
Indeed. In the case of GTA V, I am still a bit bitter because it's a fact that they 'were' going to do Single Player DLC, but scrapped it because of how successful GTA:O was and prioritised that instead.
I'm actually quite surprised given the recent patent for AI (which indicates earlier than expected development state).
Given their behemoth size, R*'s games are usually only unveiled when they're pretty well progressed (~1 year from release)...so wouldn't be surprised at a Q4 2024/Q1 2025 release.
I'm sure this is technologically going to blow everyone away, but I am very weary of the multiplayer-reliance this game will likely have. Ma...
For me it's Jet Set Radio. It still looks weird and new despite being a 2000 game. Not just because of the cel-shading; it has a bizarre aesthetic that doesn't really giveaway what year its from. Even the music is like something that came out of a parallel universe.
MW 2019 had flashes of something brilliant. Excellent campaign, and MP had some great ideas but was hampered by pretty bland maps and a totally botched Spec Ops mode.
It was very evident that IW had to drop meaningful post-launch updates immediately after it released to work on Warzone though.... even the minor issues people had with the MP were never addressed. And we all know what happened after Warzone released...
I have no doubt that if IW worked as a fi...
This live service bollocks has to die already. Mainstream gaming is such a joke; once in a blue moon you'll get a flash of brilliance like Baldur's Gate 3 (which isn't really an AAA game anyway) but the rest is soulless cash -grabbing slop.
I don't know if you work, but I wonder if you'll have such a casual sentiment when an AI (or AI-powered robot) will displace your employment/income?
