Jesus, kinda forgot about those. Microsoft is absolutely in the shitter. I think it won't be until the next big stock market crash that we'll see any real change up, their Game Pass service will keep them on life support until then imo.
There should be an internal inquiry about that process. The people involved were either incompetent, disingenuous and/or outright sycophants.
I am reminded of a process I have in my workplace where I must submit feedback for colleagues after a client job. Broadly speaking, it IS far easier just to give a cursory positive review, as giving criticism in any capacity has a multitude of potential knock-on effects.
I think this just illustrates how detached the videogame development landscape is from the reality of how videogames are perceived. The industry is seemingly run entirely by people who do not give a flying fuck about videogames as an art form and just see it as a product to be milked to death. Now you can say "duh", but to me this model is unsustainable. I feel like the entire medium has been eroded over the last 5 years by this complete indifference big budget development projects ...
Cheap and easy revenue model, so long as you have morons out there that eat this up without a second thought. I think every art medium has a flavour of this going on nowadays.
Yes -- the most frustrating one to me is the "well I'm having a blast!" and "quit having fun!" memes on the likes of Reddit.
It's that kind of attitude that almost makes you want to side with the major corporations serving up this slop. People should set better standards for themselves.
This gen still feels like it has to kick off to be honest....so definitely no, unless something massive changes.
It looks like crap still. People should demand better imo.
Gran Turismo 7 is in excellent shape now. The new physics update makes the cars feel very realistic.
I would love to see a new Gr. class in the future. Maybe 80s/90s Touring Cars or something. Would make an amazing Daily Race D
I will never understand why so many people were basically cheering this PSVR 2 to fail.
I mean, even if you aren't interested in VR, why the bitterness? Is it the perception that Sony is diverting resources to VR that should be spent elsewhere?
In any case, I very much love mine so far. In fact, aside from Cuphead, it's the only way I've played games since it launched! And personally speaking, GT7 + rig + VR is basically the dream realised. ...
One of my favourite games ever made. One of the very few open world games that were completely unshackled from the "GTA-vclone" label because it was so unique. It had an amazing overall vibe.
Would love to see a new one. RIP Pandemic Studios :(
Yes but they didn't have the stranglehold they have now. A little bit of big business is a good thing. But it always seems to turn foul after a while.
It is worth it for GT7 alone with a rig/wheel setup.
I see huge potential with PSVR 2 elsewhere. Sony really need to commit though, it's hard to ever get over the financial hurdle that is a $500 accessory.
Not to get too "crotchety old man" but I'd argue this the inevitable result of :
- GaaS
- Digital-only
- Online-focused/online-only games
- Remakes and franchise entries dominating
- Mass corporations running the industry
I love GT7, and this looks like a really fun update. That's an Audi DTM car, I wonder if it's Gr2?
Car wise I'd love to see the Mercedes 190E, they could make a classic DTM grouping with that, the BMW E30 and Alfa Romeo 155
Agree. I let an older uncle try it recently as he's into cars (NEVER played a videogame) and he was speechless.
Sometimes when I take off the headset I'll play in flat mode for a min or two, and that's when it hits you just how much that "quantum leap" is. It's not dissimilar to the 2D to 3D transition in the 90s!
What he and PD achieved with GT7 VR is staggering in my book.
A high watermark for console VR. One that I actually think the PSVR 2 might to actually eclipse (until GT8, maybe!?)
Incredible numbers considering sim racing is often regarded as "niche".
I hope for no.2 they can somehow configure mod functionality to consoles. I would also love VR, as GT7 VR is simply incredible.
Exactly. Art does not need some peaceful resolution to make a point. In fact, the most profound stories do not.
Appalling....I mean, even if its true, Spencer should have kept his mouth shut. It truly makes MS look delusional and out of touch.
