Game studios need to realise this GaaS thing will eventually drive the industry into the ground. You can't just cut off innovation for constant revenue-pumping via service provision.
It is quality first-party titles that conserve the legacy of videogames.
I've always preferred linear games with multiple paths -- Splinter Cell and the older MGS games did this with style.
As others mention, this seems like they're just flatly making Warzone assets first and foremost.
Greed massively took the steam out of what was a really exciting reboot with MW2019. If they just let Infinity Ward take as much time as needed, and leave the artistic vision to them, it would have served them much better in the long run.
I genuinely don't know why this is getting downvotes.
We've BARELY seen devs turn away from the previous gen yet. That has undoubtedly hamstrung the "jump" we would otherwise have seen with next gen.
I fear it's succumbed to the same fate as DICE....all the talent left in a hurry.
I am compelled to see how GTA VI turns out.
The major issue that MW1 and MW2 had were that the base games were quite authentic feeling and with a LOT of craft put into them (this was all Infinity Ward), but the post-launch support was all done by different studios, which clearly had no problem putting mtx dogshit into the game and weak content.
They should have let IW continuously develop the game and given them creative control.
It would have meant less revenue from mtx etc, but they wouldn't...
Oh wow I didn't know this. So they handed the MW reins to another studio...
Regardless of what the "complete" MW package looked like, don't forget that Infinity Ward were the ones who made the campaign, which in my opinion were excellent. It was Raven Software and Sledgehammer that developed the tragic MP/Warzone post-launch offerings.
Even for GTA VI, it will ultimately all be scene-setting for their MMO offering in GTA:Online 2
Art became more about the $$$.
Now, that isn't true across the board....RDR 2 was made by some of the most skilled devs in the entire industry, but I don't think we'll get a game like it again
This is the most shockingly lazy thing I've seen in videogaming in a LONG time.
Appalling behaviour by R*. Unless there's going to be some kind of PS5/X/PC remaster done separately, this is simply unacceptable.
Wow didn't know he was in MK11
Surprised how good/accurate he looks transitioning from cartoon to realistic 3D. I think the tache helps.
Rather than wishing for Fallout New Vegas 2, I would KILL for another really hardcore FPS RPG. One that requires genuine role playing, tons of choice etc.
I think part of the reason people adored FNV was simply that it took that isometric RPG philosophy and squeezed it into an FPS game.
I hope a developer takes the plunge and does it.
PSVR 2 has got the goods hardware-wise, we just need more AAA titles. RE8 and GT7 are high benchmarks for what's possible in VR.
Yes but commercially it is still far from a sure thing
Is GTA 5 actually fun to play online? It seems so exhausting to even get into.
GTA IV had a fun online, there were some really interesting modes on it like Cops n Crooks
This is what separates MS from Sony. They just won't innovate or lead the charge. They take "sure things" they know can guarantee short term shareholder return, usually in the form of a live service/subscription.
Interestingly, anyone in data will know this is their exact M.O in that space also. They never really innovate, they just wait for the market to do it and then kinda absorb it once they know it's proven to make $$$ (again, usually through a subscripti...
As someone that feels a little bit crestfallen by the current state of videogames, PSVR 2 and Gran Turismo 7 & RE8 is proof that the "dream" is possible.
THAT is the spark of joy I felt when I was playing videogames for the first time in the 90s.
I sincerely hope Sony continue to develop with the PSVR 2. It is quite simply a stunning piece of technology.
Agreed. I think Sony is at a juncture where it has to decide between short-term gain in terms of revenue, and their long-term legacy ,(which is held up by quality products).
GT7 has made it worth the purchase alone imo. But it would be amazing to see Sony throw their weight behind a new AAA IP for PSVR 2.
Also....pleeeeease let WRC 23 have VR. Rally in VR would be amazing.
It looks virtually mighty of course but I do think Activision's greed has caused the MW reboot series to run out of steam quickly.
Infinity Ward had this "artistic vision" for MW2019 (like it or hate it, it was pretty bold) but I really believe they had control yanked off them soon afterwards.
I'd be curious to know what's happening with them moving forward, I'd love to see what they'd do with total control of their output. ...
