Why can t MSFT put out info on the XB One without having to release 1 or more follow up "clarifications"?
It sounds like they are still unsure of some policies
If it is difficult for a bunch of MBA s with PR and marketing people on call24/7 to communicate XB One policies then the policy is probably too complicated to begin with
There are many reasons but one of the big ones is "flame bait" and/or sorry gamer journalism. Many of the journalist are fan boy journalist (some openly others not so) or they just act like fan boy journalist in order to create hits and controversy-
Basically you have a significant portion of gamer journalism whose intent is to create anger between groups- it can be done by posting exaggerated claims, positive or negative about one particular company - so one gr...
The problem w Nintendo Direct being the primary marketing chanell is it is focused soley on Wii U owners- obviously that is THE target market but most existing Wii U owners have nown about this game for a while- but non core gamers/families considering a console purchase this holiday probably have never heard of W 101
So Nintendo directs are GREAT marketing - but not complete marketing
Why does the headline of this story begin with "RUMOR" on its originating website but on the N4G site the very important "rumor" is left off? Is this N4G doing this or the site submitting the story? doesn t anyone think this should be correct on the N4G site?
Resident Evil Revelations and Injustice Gods Among Us came out at the same time as the other versions and have sold very little-
Need For Speed was supposed to be the best version of all consoles and has sold even less -
Scribblenauts is a good game- not sold very much- no games other than Mario U and Nintendo Land have sold any significant amount
I own a Wii, a 3DS and a Wii U- I like Nintendo games very much, but I DO want 3rd party support.
It is obvious why EA is not supporting Nintendo now- There is more than 1 reason but they are all business reasons - The Wii U sales dropped off a cliff along with any excitement that had built, software sales were even worse than the hardware sales- Bringing games to the Wii U turned out to be a mistake for most if not all the retail developers and publishers- at least from laun...
"Sound Familiar" Yes it does! That is one of the problems. The lineup that was so big, bad and fresh that worked for the 3DS (with a big price cut) is not quite as big, quite bad and definitely not as fresh the 2nd time around for the Wii U.
How many Mario platformers have there been since?
Smash Brothers and Kart will also be on the 3ds
The big MArio game for the Holiday will be great but it was fresh on the 3ds the 1st time ...
Nintendo is the biggest threat to the Wii U as well as its biggest hope
The fact Nintendo released the 3DS with no games and priced too high was bad mngmt. Iwata and co specifically acknowledged these mistakes and said they had learned from these mistakes. Then on the very next console launch they made the SAME mistakes - too high a price and no games-
not only did they make the same mistakes they completely dropped software support (making games) for the Wii- a console w 100 million units in the market place-
For the last +/-2 years i...
If the Wii U ends up being Nintendo exclusive hardware like some have said, then the 3ds may end up being it s biggest competitor-
If the person that buys a Nintendo home console for the great Nintendo games and owns a MSFT or Sony home console for everything else decides to buy a 3ds for their "Nintendo fix" instead of a Wii U- that could eat up a lot of wii u sales-
Seeing as how some of the biggest Nintendo games are being released on both th...
Regardless of how much Nintendo is or is not losing on console sales to date- they still need to drop the price under $300 and do so quickly-
I like the Wii U and want it to succeed but Nintendo has made so many huge mistakes launching it that it is going to take more than "business as usual" to turn things around to an acceptable level (re the business side and the consumer side)
Nintendo has not illustrated a sense of urgency re the WiiU nor h...
All the points re why the wii U is struggling are accurate and for the most part, there is really no good excuse for any of them happening-
virtually all of the reasons for the Wii U's disastrous sales and lack of 3rd party support could have been either eliminated or significantly reduced had they waited till late Spring 2013+/- to release the console
Sure they picked up the extra sales releasing in time for the holiday shopping season, but I think the ...
Didn t they do a Nintendo direct last Spring that covered most of the big games to come in the future? I know it covered Zelda (WW and Zelda U), Smash Brothers and several others, but they did not announce any time frame for them then- so it was def a vague teaser but seemed to generate a good bit of press and excitement for a while. It turned out to be mostly late 2013 and 2014/15 games
I agree- they are doing more but there has not been any sense of urgency from Nintendo considering how poorly sales have been, how much 3rd party support has dried up and even some retailers beginning to back away
They have cash- they should have used some of it to defend their console
They would have had what my household needed if they did not have several huge delays from launch window to months past the launch window
They said they would do much better on 3rd party= I did not think they cold get any worse than they had been doing the last few years of the Wii- I was wrong
The lineup of games at E-3 for 2nd half 2013 and 2014 will provide some great games but many of the titles many Nintendo fans and wi u owners were hoping for if not e...
Miasmado,
The information Nintendo put out re game releases and what they had learned from previous mistakes was faulty- kind of hard to do homework when you are working w bad info
Are you saying that those of us who had bought a wii u at launch should have completely discounted the information that Nintendo put out to sell it?
Can you tell us how Wii U owners and prospective Wii U owners can tell when to take Nintendo's communications...
why would using "sex to sell" or for any other reason be a "no no" in gaming but perfectly acceptable in virtually every other medium in our society? It is used heavily in tv both free and paid- it is used to sell virtually every product and service in the USA- it is used in women's magazines more than most anywhere else, the movies etc.....
If a developer wants to put it in a game, for whatever reason they like then so be it- so long as it is rate...
If it is satire it needs to be visibly noted in the headline- not because of the well done or "genuine" satire sites and writers but due to the sites and writers who use satire as a cover to mislead-
then call it satire- usually after the fact
same w the "rumor stories"
I have seen many articles posted on N4G over the last month or more that are not close to actual journalism, the headlines and/or story content are intentionally misleading and gives the more professional gamer journalist bad names- not to mention the industry itself
To have a rumor story post, then be refuted but have several more stories post on the now refuted rumor is amazing to me- to have many of these stories post at all is surprising to me- I don t get it
Iwata keeps referring to how well their 3DS strategy worked and that they are using the same strategy for the Wii U- but a huge part of the 3DS was a price cut in addition to big name software-
I don t think the "3DS strategy" is going to work as well as hoped w out the price cut
