We (wii U owners) will have fewer and fewer games to compare w the PS4 and XB1 versions as time passes- We have this partial group of multiplats now that are also on X 360 and PS3 as well but after this round of 3rd party games for the wii u (thru 2013+/-) We will be getting less and less 3rd party games on the wii u- (not that we have many now) It really sux to miss on so many great multi plat games - all for yet another Mario and/or Donky Kong platformer-
So I doubt w...
Even though I bought at launch, I m glad they are dropping the price- I think it will be the 1st of at least 2 price drops between now and late Spring 2014-
I don t feel like I "deserve" something from Nintendo because they dropped the price- but I do feel like they should be taking care of their best customers who bought between launch day and Jan 2013 because many of the most important launch games were delayed for many months and these delay announcements star...
People's expectations are set primarily by the market place- The PS4 is $400 with lots more horsepower and 15 times more memory
It is Nintendo s job to make money and be competitive- so far for the Wii U they have not been competitive enough with their offering of both hardware and software-
Now that they have games coming out and a $50 lower price we will find out if there is value in the market place @ $300 for the Wii U
Can someone clarify the date of the price cut? I have read that it is 9-20 but I m not sure f that is just the date for the Windwaker bundle or if it is for both.
If it is true that the price cut is not till 9-20, can ANYONE explain the logic in announcing now and waiting till 9-20? no one (w a brain) will buy a wii u from now till 9-20- Why would they want to kill sales for 3 weeks
good- I think I get about 2- 2.5 hours out of mine
it s a pain too- it also seems to drain nearly as fast when on standby as t does playing
Ubisoft has supported the Wi U more than any other developer so far including NINTENDO!
I am sure Nintendo could have cut a deal w Ubisoft to keep the original release date but they were not willing to do it- why would anyone blame Ubisoft for making a sound and reasonable decision to delay Rayman when they had all the sales data they needed re the Wii U and software sales to make a god decision?
Do people think Ubisoft should have just committed financial s...
This is not news- EA has said the same thing all along (since they announced they had no games in development): that they would begin developing again when/if it made business sense for them to do so- nothing has changed-
Most any dev/publisher is going to do the same- release games they think make good business decisions- with the occasional release just for good pr-
The Wii U lives! it may be in a small shack w no heat, air or indoor plumbing and have a leaky roof... but for now- but it does live.
a price drop and some more quality games may even give its hoe a facelift- of course if Nintendo used some of its $5+ billion in cash to see to it that great 3rd party sellers like GTA 5 and a few others would show up on the wii u at thee same time as other platformers it would help- Imagine if GTA was coming o the Wii U- it would be able to...
no no no - I am sure 1 person bought 15,000 Wii U s that week in order to win a bet w another poster on NG4 re how many more units would sell when Pikmin came out- it is the only logical explanation
I ve decided I am a fan boy for "anti horrible gamer journalism". Gamer journalism: "the oxymoron of the 21st century"***
*** There are some excellent journalist and gamer news organizations in the industry- but for every sound, well thought out, well written, well produced etc. piece of journalism, there are a dozen that are the opposite
sounds like their ex marketing guy has not even heard of the internet-
his explanation makes zero sense
bladesterling: you joined an hour+/- ago just to make these 2 comments? kind of odd imo
the article and some of the follow up post must be hitting close to home
I purchased the wii U at launch and agree with everything in the article and could add a few more to the list
I am relatively new to gaming (3.5+/- years ago) and only began participating because I purchased a Wii (3.5 yrs ago) for my 4 yr old Son- then bought him a wii u at launch for his b day- Even though Nintendo slowed/stopped releasing games on the Wii not long after buying it- there were plenty to play from the existing library of 1st and 3rd party games-
<...
Is the answer YES (according to the author of the article)?
It is ashamed all these 3rd party publishers are "out to get Nintendo". As we all know multi million/billion dollar business organizations usually make their decisions based on juvenile emotion. All of these publisher developer execs are just fanboys plain and simple-
As a Wii, 3DS and Wi U owner only- I am glad they aren t making decisions of which consoles to release their games based on ...
Is there a primary reason Nintendo can t get large portions of its old game libraries up on the Wii U e shop, w the goal of having nearly all their old games on the e shop- that alone would not only drive console sales it would drive revenue too- anytime they wanted to push for a little extra revenue they could have a big sale- maybe they could leak the old Wii games onto the e shop slowly like they are doing w the rest of the library now-
not only would it help drive ha...
Why would an October or even September release be considered too early by some? I understand you want to hit the holiday season- but wouldn t releasing a week, month or more before your competition be a good thing
I like the fact Mii verse is focused on Wii-U/Nintendo games. There are many social networks available for broader interest - the focus of Mii verse is a strength- if you widen it too much, then Mii Verse will become diluted w all kinds of off topic junk
I teach my Son it is not ok to hit girls (he has a little sister too) - but I guess if he ever play s COD it will have to be ok to shoot them?
Honestly it makes sense to allow character customization for many games - gender, age, race, size etc. but it can and will bring some uncomfortable situations to games from time to time
Does it take a lot of time and resources to put VC games on the Wii u e shop? It seems they would be using their vast library of existing games to get out on the E shop- not necessarily all at once but they could be releasing more than 1 or so VC games a well on it to keep everyone interested while they wait on their new 1st party games
I think Sept is the first month the Wii U has had enough games out/coming out to offer both choice and volume for the console owners- It seems this trend will continue thru Spring 2014- I think the longer term future of the Wii U and its library will be much more evident looking beyond spring 2014- either the Wii U has picked up enough sales and Nintendo is aggressive enough to pick up more 3rd party support or the opposite will transpire and we will be relying almost exclusively on Ninten...
