Good article- I have often wondered why that issue was not brought up more previously-
Re the reason Nintendo does not offer chat and online (more often), I m a little more cynical- I think it comes down to money. They have plenty of it but are not willing to invest in some aspects of their own hardware/ecosystem. Perhaps if the Wii U was selling better they would have been willing to invest more in it- However, in this day/age of the gaming industry, it is difficult to...
What are some of those reasons?
Yes the Wii u had a huge software drought shortly after launch - i bought my Wii u at launch so I was very aware of the factvtheybdelayed many of thier announced launch games- Now we are in the middle of another drought - basically we hadb Mario 3d in late Nov, then Dk in feb lego in March and not much till Mario kart. There are a serious lack of games and diversity in games for the Wii u this far into its lifespan- You may have noticed how poorly it is selling- It is selling at his...
IMO the Year of Luigi was there to distract form the fact they had no games for the Wii u - If they comeup w another "year of...." Then it will tell me weare in for more lean times re software
What we need to see in SSB4.... a release date or at least release month
The headline could just as easily read " this generation of consoles COULD be the 1st of many more console generations to come"
The Sun might not rise tomorrow or the sun might rise tomorrow- these open ended headlines are worthless- because in theory damn near ANYTHING COULD or COULD NOT happen
Mister X next blog will be about the Wii U' s bright future as it relates to 3rd party games- after e 3 the Wi u will actually be getting the definitive edition of all next gen 3rd party games released from 2013 till through its lifetime- The Wii U actually has a triple stacked CPU/GPU/ECU turbo RAM made by aliens - it is actually stronger than any pc made thru 2020.....
Nintendo clearly pulling out all the stops to save the Wii u- naturally when you can't getv1st party software out at a healthy clip, can t/won t make the console attractive to 3 rd parties ..... What do you do..... Fire up volleyball as your only vc game release!
I don t think they care about the Wii u or the people that own them
I would much prefer "The Year without a Major software drought" Or the year of the Wii u
Darksiders 2 was great IMO - very well worth it - one of my favorite Wii U games
The Wii u is not out tracking the PS4 - people are comparing December sales for the Wii u to feb sales for the ps4. December is the biggest retail month in Japan while February is one of the slowest so the comparisons are not apples to apples
So you don t know what Iwata is referring to ( beyond a vague concept) any more than the rest of us?
Speculation is fine- that is what these boards are all about - It s just difficult to be so sure about something that you or no one outside of Nintendo knows what " it " is.
I don t know what it is but I do know its going to be a smashing success and anyone who doesn't is stupid???
What is " this" you are referring to? Iwata has not given ny specifics that I am aware- so how would you, I or anyone know if "this" will be good, bad or inconsequential- Whatever it is, getting into new bigness typically takes time and a lot of money evn if it becomes succesful eventually So QOL ill not provide additional profits to invet in Gaming anytime soon
And people say 3rd party Dev s don t support the Wii U (:
Maybe How to train your Dragon is that 1 game Iwata is looking for to turn the Wii U around
But Iwata does not indicate what the money is being spent on - for all we know none of the additional money is going toward helping the Wii u ( I hope most of it is but Iwata would not say).
Sounds like a cool game - glad to have some diversity (aka its not a platformer)
Well written and much more objective than the blindly obedient Nintendo fans that won t acknowledge the obvious - even hen Nintendo itself does
One thing I don t understand is if a person cares for a console and/ or games company, then why support thier bad decisions and/ or errant direction?
Lilbrorx: I saw the article you are reffering but in no reasonable metric is the wii u outperforming the XB1 -
The Wii u did better numbers in December 2012 than the XB 1 did this February - the December sales season in Japan is similar to our holiday sales season in December - it is thier busiest month of the year and, like ours, February one of the slowest
Nintendo ok d smash bros for EVO only after it was painfully obvious they were about to Jeffers a major pr crisis - Although I don t fully believe Reggie - he flatly stated they don t listen to the fans and op rainfall had no influence in thier bringing Xenoblade, the Last Story and Pandora to the West -
Re Earthbound they charged $3 more for he privilege of playing it than the other SNES vc games released on the Wii u e shop
I could list many more exampl...
Having online multiplayer does not keep people from playing together physically- It adds the ability to bring people together that can t (or it is not practical) otherwise game together physically
