Can you PROVE any of the adds Nintendo creates and runs help sell thier products ( or any other company). No but they still spend billions advertising and getting product placement in movies etc-
A company could quantify thier presence on YouTube easier than running an add or paying or billboards because they have a ton of data readily available on you tube including views, subs and active comment sections

The fact they are not doing the big press conf makes me nervous that they aren t confident in what they have to show like last year but hopefully that is not the case this year - just seems if they had a lot to show off they would want to maximize it via an on stage press conf for the world to see not just existing Nintendo console owners/ fans

Please someone show me were Nintendo says they make money on each Wii u sold now. That is not a correct statement yet it keeps getting repeated.
In Iwata s Investor Q and A he says it still cost more to make a Wii u than what is sells for. Only their existing stock of Wii U s will be sold at a profit due to the fact they wrote down the losses on them in the previous fiscal year.

In the section of the Investor Q and A sited for this article. Iwata said the cost of the Wii U is higher then the trade price, however since they wrote down the losses from existing stock in the last fiscal year, they can sell up to their 3.6 million sales goal at close to break even.

They are selling existing Wii U stock at some % of profit because they wrote down the loss in last years reporting period- So when and if they sell out their existing stock and need to make new Wii U s they will be made and sold at a loss still- Iwata did not say...
