It's a trick that the uploader used to make it seem like 60fps. He took his own 60fps video, slowed it down to 30fps and uploaded it on youtube. If you watch it in standard view you'll notice it's in slow motion.

In standard speed, 30 frames are shown to you in a second, or 60 frames in 2 seconds. When you increase the speed of the video by 2 times, 30 frames are shown to you in only half of a second, or 60 frames in a second, thus giving the illusion that the fra...

And if you look at their history, you would know that the previous games were published by EA (need for speed) and Atari (Ferrari Test Drive). I've tried their alpha for a little while before I opted out (didn't have time). From the looks of things, I think it's safe to say that they had a deadline for these games and they probably got rushed. Now, these guys seem very serious about creating a realistic racing game as they have lots of the help from the community. There are even p...

Offers nothing? What are you talking about? The Steam machines + the OS haven't been officially released yet and they're already starting to get a lot of support from developers. By the time they release, there will probably be more games supported.

Yes, if you already have a gaming PC, then there's no point. The steam machines are for those who want to get into PC gaming without having to build it themselves. While it's true you could probably build it yourse...

How do you know there won't be split screen? It's not something exclusive to consoles you know, it's up to the devs to implement split-screen in PC games. However, most of the time they no need for it because PC's are not generally used for more than 1 person. While there are few, there are games out there that support split-screen.

If the steam machines do take off, then they might have an effect on split-screens in the future.

You appear to be misinformed. It's not redundant just because you yourself have no use for it. However, other people may have use for it if their PC's aren't hooked up to their TVs (if they wish to play Windows games on TV).

The other thing you don't seem to realize is that SteamOS, again, is a free OS. You don't need 2 PC's to run both Linux and Windows games at all, because you can do what's called a Dual-boot, perhaps you've heard of it, so ...

Well, for one thing, I would at least put a quad core CPU like the Athlon 750K (same CPU performance as an A10-5700), which can be found for only $10 more than the A6. Other than that, it's a nice system since they have an R9 270 in there.

LOL, you really have no idea what you're spouting.

Having a Linux OS is good because it's a free license for developers unlike Windows. When SteamOS takes off with a strong support for games, people won't have to worry about buying a Windows home license.

Valve is trying to transition the developers from Windows to Linux as smoothly as possible. If some want to develop on Windows, that's fine. SteamOS will provide a streaming functionality whe...

Not sure if I understand this post, but turning on V-Sync in the game or control panel actually extends the life of a GPU too. When the FPS is capped at the Monitor's refresh rate, the GPU won't continue to push itself at 100% since it doesn't need to.

That's the thing that might turn some people off about it though. For the price of what you're paying for it, why not just save an extra $200 from the monitor and get a better video card that will do the job quite nicely? The price for these may come down eventually, so I would wait, but that's me.

Obviously there are people out there who will have no problem purchasing this thing. It does look promising though.

I was referring to ABizzel's choice of selling his own PC's. Unless he has his own shop, I don't think there would be a warranty :).

Do you provide warranty in case it breaks down some months in operation? :)

The TDP of the 750k is 100W because it's pretty much an A10-5700 with a disabled chip. Some people have reported it only reaching 80W under standard. Then again, it's probably the same for the A6 since it'll only be the CPU being used. Regardless, I'm pretty sure whatever PSU they put in there can handle 30 extra Watts.

If using a dual core, then yeah, the pentiums are probably the best bet. However, with the price they're going for, I would still go with ...

They should have replaced the A6-6400K with an Athlon 750K at least. It's only $10 more and it's a quad core with cpu performance nearly identical to the A10-5800K.

Why not use BF4? It's a graphically demanding game like any other. I just used it as an example because it's a well known game. Fine want other games? My brother also plays COH2, Rome total war 2, played Witcher 2 etc...

It can even run Crysis 3 just fine on med-high settings. So can you give me a game that's out now that the card is absolutely incapable of running? Don't underestimate the 5770 1GB, it's still a pretty good card especially since it was con...

Are you kidding me dude? Just because you upgraded from a 7870 doesn't mean you HAVE to upgrade. A brother of mine is still rocking an HD 5770 and it plays BF4 fine on med settings in 1920x1080. That series is now 4 years and 4 months old, now just imagine somebody still rocking a 5870.

Now my brother wants to upgrade to a GTX 760/R9 270X which costs $250/$230 and can play BF4 just fine on Ultra settings. Doesn't cost much now does it? It all depends on your preferenc...

"Well, considering the desktop 7850 is less powerful than my 4 year old 5870, i guess the PS4 is less powerful than that.."

Umm, no, the card you're reffering to is the HD 6850. At stock, the HD 7850 is slightly faster than the 5870. Not only that, but its newer architecture makes it more power efficient and has better overclocking. There's a reason AMD hit it big with the HD 7xxx series.

And regarding the PS4, we're talking about an AP...

The up side you say?

- It's open source, meaning it's free, meaning you won't have to pay for Windows when SteamOS becomes a mainstream gaming platform.

- It's also a free license for developers, so that means no royalties are paid.

- If you have a second PC without windows, you can supposedly stream games from your Windows PC to a Steam PC to play on the TV (assuming you're gaming PC is not hooked to a TV).

Oh man, you can tell a lot of these guys here don't know anything about software development just by reading their posts.

You guys probably don't even know what optimization really is.

Meh, it's not even worth the time to explain, it'll just go over your heads anyway.

Because you obviously know how they should make their game. Look I'm sure Valve knows what to do to keep gameplay fresh in their newest game.

Besides, it has only been 6 years since their last half-life game, going on 7, it's not as bad as you think. Half-Life 2 was released 6 years after the first and it was still well received.

If a game like Portal 2 is any indication, then that means they still got the talent, because that was an amazing game. To ...
