I think the analogy to bad cellphone service is a great one, and something a lot of people haven't thought of
Microsoft has had a bad start to 2008, I don't think anyone can argue that. But they can definitely turn it back around with some big games and features for the console. I think it's entirely too early to say the whole year will be bad.
The gamertag being invalid could very well be a server issue. However, the timing of it does raise some eyebrows.
But something this well written locked and removed so quickly? I guess anytime you have a differing idea, it can't be seen. I understand Microsoft owns/runs the forum, but it's not like the thread had any flaming
Not even a gaming only front, there was next to nothing announced in the PC or tech front. Overall, it was very underwhelming.
Remote Play could be one of the best features of the PS3/PSP combination. I hope more games support this in 2008.
You might start running into trouble if you're carrying a laptop, DS, PSP, mobile phone, camera, and a few extras batteries (which isn't very far off on how a lot of people travel now a days)
To those saying this story is a duplicate, it is not. I've looked through every story of the past 3 days and don't see this anywhere. This came out on January 1st, yesterday, and it just being reported on.
I have a few friends who haven't had a bit of trouble. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, from what I gather, as to who is being affected by the server issues. I was fine yesterday, but unable to connect today.
Definitely not a fanboy of any system. But it's news none the less. The service was reported as all fine as good by Microsoft, and now it's down again.
I can see why 129 users have ignored you
To those saying this is duplicate, it really isn't. Microsoft came out and said the service was back up and running and everything was good. Now, it's down again.
This has nothing to do with the PS3 being good or bad, so it shouldn't turn into a flame fest (but when has that ever worked here).
This is Epic's implementation of mods for the game on PS3. It's the first time it's been done, so there are growing pains involved. Just pointing out some optimizations that need to happen sooner rather than later for mods to become more mainstream on consoles.
I've had 2 Elite's die from RRoD and one from Disc Read Errors, so the Zephyr isn't helping enough
The new Falcon chipset has new aluminum heatsinks and two inductors. The CPU is 65nm instead of the larger 90nm in the previous models. All of this makes the system run cooler and use less power (175W instead of 205W). So yes, this will help with the RRoD. Better hardware = more stability.
The new error codes you're referring to aren't based on new hardware. Recent dashboard updates have changed the error handling in the Xbox 360 kernel, so it would be displayed the new way on all consoles, new or old.
Yes, it applies across the board to all models. If it has 175W listed, it's a Falcon.
Story is not a duplicate. These are further findings from what was reported in earlier stories
The games lineup and online component of the 360 was hands down the best for any console this year
Yeah, those reasons caused me to have more fun with the game. There's no need for me to rehash what I already wrote in a comment here
If you purchase any premium content on a different console (ie. one that got the RRoD), you must be connected to Live to use that premium content. In my case, I can't play ANY of my 30 XBLA titles unless connected to Live since I'm on a new 360 (9th one).
