I highly doubt it. The Last of Us is very distinguished. It has its own cult-following/fanbase. The jaded zombie crowd don't really matter. Last of Us fans are going to show up for this game, as well as first timers who've never played a Last of Us game, and people who recently jumped on the bandwagon because they recently discovered it and played the first game for the first time only recently.
I completely agree. It's a game for a game's sake, but it's worthwhile one-time play-through.
Edit: Admittedly, I didn't read the article, but I do agree with the headline.
You know what? Enough of this picayune horseshit. If anyone is a TLoU purist, it's me, but it 'does' fall under the zombie genre umbrella, sorry.
The clickers are definitely different and definitely unique, but the standard infected act and look just like any other typical zombie. Stop trying to force this 'lore purity' nonsense onto people. They're going to see it as a zombie game, even though it's not a conventional zombie game.
How was it a "disaster" exactly? Because it doesn't reach the commercial heights of Fortnite or some run-of-the-mill 3rd party games?
That's a dramatic word to use because you simply don't like something. It's so far from being a disaster. If Horizon Zero Dawn is a disaster, I'd like to know what you think the polar opposite of a disaster is? For curiosity; conversation's sake.
By upholding it's strong story-telling, excellent game play, and graphics. The production values on this are sky high, but it's more than just high production values, it's perfect execution. The actors are top notch. Naughty Dog are the crème de la crème of game studios.
Some people may disagree, but to me, this isn't just another zombie game; it transcends category. The Last of Us is in a class of its own.
Are you playing? The loading time to get this game started is painful. I'm on a launch Pro and it's not a deal breaker but it's not good.
Thin white line spanning the length of the screen loads up the menu. Then you have another painfully long loading time to load up the world.
Let me know if you're having the same issue. Back to playing.
It shows that people are willing to pay for what's tried and true. There's also the fact that PlayStation is such a long and firmly established thing in gaming.
Yeah, they don't need to do anything but make consoles and games. It's brilliant yet so simple.
Ok, I'm about half an hour into it.
Pretty damn good visuals on Pro. I'm quite impressed with the foliage and how it reacts to weather. The characters and their clothing it's all good.
Onto the game play. It isn't bad; certainly not horrible or miserable, but I can tell you now that if it doesn't deviate much from what it is now and I just get more weapons and enemies, and I'm just doing things for the sake of getting them done wi...
How can you hold Sony Bend responsible for a comment about "another gruff white male?" That's nonsense.
On the other hand, certain bitter fans are using that to try to nullify all other fair, agenda-free reviews, and that's nonsense too.
You're definitely right about Kotaku's agenda. I mean it's glaring - you don't have to look for it. This doesn't necessarily mean, IMO, that the 'entire' review is nullified though. The reviewers... views on the game's systems, mechanics, and other things aren't nullified, but it 'does' make him/her a jackass.
One IGN employee made a seriously stupid comment about the "gruff white male" and Lucy echoed it in her review, ...
We know the point of the bike's "fragility" is to add pressure so that things don't become to casual. "The world comes for you" (even the bike) I'm pretty sure Lucy is smart enough to understand that concept, but for her, it would have been more fun for if she could run down some stray dudes with her bike with a degree of impunity.
Hitting one freaker dude 'mistakenly' damaging the bike and forcing her to look for scrap when she just ...
More simply stated; the repetition has to be really fun and compelling. Repeated tasks must be interesting, and other interesting tasks interspersed to support that repetition.
It's a tough thing to nail in games.
I'll hear your argument, but you've gotta hear mine.
This, as you know, is a Sony first-party exclusive game. There are higher expectations for these games for many reasons, but mainly due to the immense amount of support Sony gives (or can give) to their studios. Resources, time, the best graphics people, ICE team (which can be deployed to any Sony studio even though they're mainly employed at Naughty Dog) and just about anything a studio could ask for. Sony...
See, I have some friends who feel the same way about The Last of Us; a game I cherish like members of my immediate family. Still, I'm able to see from their point of view, understand, and ultimately accept and appreciate their arguments, even though I personally think it's an unmitigated masterpiece.
Some of them said they found the simple area-to-area navigation boring; i.e. pushing pallets and dumpsters. Ok, I get it.
Why then, can't the peo...
Yeah, nobody knows that; let's take to the streets. They're losing so bad they're doin' it with two o's. I got the tiki torches. Streaming will not repla--
And the universe.
This strikes me as one of those capture, kill, clear, complete type games. Very similar to AC, but it can still be enjoyable. I know I'm going to get some enjoyment out of this game. I enjoy some of the AC games so I can enjoy this.
I love your binary thinking.
I will never, ever buy a goddamn streaming console. I don't care who makes it.
You're not going to convince anybody, and nobody is going to listen to you with that attitude, unless they're people like you to begin with.
